Nope I was suggesting .....

that the TAC could not get better exposure than having a Collingwood footballer sacked for drink driving - it tells everyone that no matter who you are, this is the wrong thing to do.

This is the same thing the Richmond supporters were saying. You are wrong that the TAC "could not get better exposure".

A stronger message is for the TAC to stand up and withdraw sponsorship. It sends a message that you will be penalised, and your organisation as well if you do something that is illegal and dangerous. And that there is zero tolerance with drink driving.

Lucky for Collingwood that he is a fringe player. I think the club will make an example of him. The trouble with this approach is that it sets a precedent, and if a good player infringes - what do you do?

Why would Collingwood trade for a dud like Chad anyway. No wonder they're so :D:D:D:D.

Pretty sure we didn't didn't trade for him. Picked him up in the PSD couple of years back. Apparently was the best of a bad bunch that year?????

Interesting all the Collingwood fans calling for his de-listing. While the community spirit is admirable, I wonder if it was Dale Thomas would they be yelling quite so loud?

Community spirit or coulsn't care less because Morrison is a has been?

Let me guess???
It wouldn't matter to me who it was - the club is bigger than the individual

You do something different....

Double standards are the norm in the AFL and Eddie as the master of spin - as such suspend Morrison and if say Dale Thomas does it, simply give him a stern talking to ....

You know its true

Joffa would you be calling for say Dal Santo or Ball to be sacked if they got caught. Just human nature. Every pies supporter thinks he is a dud so of course we will say this. Correct you are if it was thomas I wouldn't call for his sacking but I'm sure that Thomas wouldn't be driving around :D:D:D:Ded when you have your whole career ahead of you. Morrison on the other hand.

Greg Swann went even further, he told the players to ring him at anytime of the night if they had been drinking and he WOULD COME AND PICK THEM UP HIMSELF

whats his number?

Collingwood certainly breeds some very different fans. TAC should pull sponsorship, they did it to Richmond they should do it to Collingwood. First loss ANZAC day Pies?
Don't tell me you are still hurting over the arse whopping we gave you two weeks ago.
Get over it

Stevie Lawrence board.

No matter what happens a lot of weight is Jay Schulz' shoulders
If the TAC don't pull the sponsorship, then clearly he was hard done by and a scapegoat for others actions. If they do pull the sponsorship then he's not the only one guilty of losing a sponsor for their club.

Collingwood will probably try to get out of it by firing him (if they can given the collective bargaining agreement) seeing as they don't need him on their list anyway.

AS if Collingwood r going 2 sack him just because the TAC :D:D:D:Ders kick up a protest. Who'd be dumb enough to get them to sponsor your club anyway. Memo to Collingwood. Ditch the TAC fools.

I'd rather ditch a mindless moron that breaks the law then a high paying sponsor.

You certainly wouldn't be surprised if the sponsorship goes out the door. Silly boy, Chad. Hope he gets delisted, probably the worst listed player with over 100 games experience in the whole AFL.

And if you were caught drink driving in your job, what would you say if your boss sacked you because of it? Unfair dismissal.

Depends on the contract I signed, especially the code of conduct. But being over the limit three days before a game is bad enough, let alone breaking the law by drink driving.

He was recruited as a short term fix to our depth, which came in handy last year. We got him for free so its no loss, now that we are at full strength and our young players have another year iin their legs.

Let me think, if it was Fraser Gehrig I would keep him but if its Steven Lawrence I would sack him.
If its Ben Cousins I would keep him but if its Michael Gardiner I would drop him to Claremont.
If Its Larry Angwin I woudl sack him but if its Karl Norman I'd give him one more year.

Yes you're right, its a case by case basis. We would not treat a 100 game 28 year old the same as an eighteen year old kid.

The only reason people make a big deal of these issues is that it gives us a chance to slag an opposition team.

And no doubt Collingwood supporters deserve everything they get back in their direction with interest.

However, when you compare AFL players and their stupidity with other sports, our players and their indescretions are pretty lame. Rick Manning Jnr for instance, signed an offer sheet with the Chicago Bears on Friday for US$21M (meaning his current club have to top it if they want to keep him) then 2 days later punches the crap out of guy at a Denny's because he was using a laptop! Now there's one smart cookie. Assults, shootings, drug deals . . . all common place in American sports.

Kick away at the Pies but I really stuggle to find any delight in a bloke losing his job for this sort of thing.
