I was sending up your send-upAnd your problem is? It is a send up LOL
It's also worth remembering that often, the reason they choose to umpire is because they love the game as much as we do. We will always disagree with umpiring decisions because the rules are subject to interpretation, that is an inherent part of the game, but without umpires, playing the game would become pointless. It's the point of sport that there are rules!
As long as they love the game as much as we do, then it is inevitable that they grew up fanatical about one team.
As long as they used to be fanatical about one team, then it is inevitable that they hated certain teams & it is also inevitable that they will at times favour certain teams in certain games. So when interstate teams come to Victoria, it is inevitable that some of these fanatics will have an unjust influence on games. Games where their fellow umpires have a significantly different view to things to this one umpire.
We all know who they are.
Umpires are not immune, as VFL fans, to the broad-based, baseless prejudices of the game such as:
1. Swans are the AFL's pet;
2. Swans get massive financial injections that has enabled them to unfairly build a massive list because the AFL must have Sydney successful to make national expansion justifiable;
3. Adam Goodes is a protected species;
4. Swans get favourable treatment from umpires - always.
Now, this helps promote an anti- Swans feeling amongst low IQ, LCD Herald Sun readers - led by polished-turd bogans like Eddie Maguire. The reality is that the Swans have made a huge mark in the most heavily populated, competitive sports area in Australia.
This is a team to be proud of - despite the protectionist, bogan VFL cheating that many umpires, sometimes subtlety, display.
But, despite this, what a fabulous club! And this year, we will thrive - despite corruption that makes the Obeids look like Mumma Theresa.
I think McBurney retired this year.Oh bummer must of been thinking of someone else.
