because everyone thinks asda is going to punish essendon and anyone involved quite severely.

If Goddard plays well in the midfield for Essendon, many in the media will carry on ad nauseum about how much better he's playing now that he's finally got the opportunity to play in the midfield, in spite of the fact that he spent the majority of last season in the midfield for St Kilda.
