Need to change the wage structure which can be difficult. To get in decent players they have to way overpay, but that obviously means you can never sell anyone. I guess now decent players won't come despite the money as they aren't in the champions league. Not easy to get back there, need to start again with a young team.

Losing greenwood and not replacing him was a key mistake imho

As long as the Glazers measure success by their ability to meet their debt repayments and maintain their income via dividends United will never win anything.

1.7 billion out of the club in debt repayments an refinancing costs, zero into Carrington and Old Trafford. Recruitment has been commercially driven for the duration of their tenure leading to stupid money paid for the likes of Di Maria, Pogba, Lukaku and the massive wages to everyone as contracts can be counted as assets and add the the clubs valuation on the stock market. Administrators override football people in recruitment with Tiago all but signed but Joel Glazer knocking back his request for a fourth year on his contract. Then Liverpool came in and bang. ten Hag wanted to ship Ronaldo and get a new striker, but nope, Joel Glazer wasn't having it.

ten hag was brought in under the guise of a changing of approach yet here we are with no recruitment team or overarching strategy, leaving the coach to choose who to bring in at the same time as trying to get the hodgepodge of players he does have playing a style that will compete with the best. ten Hag was told the club would implement a proper, modern football structure around him but the Glazers still have their say on players and no proper structure has been implimented.

Honestly, as a United fan since 1982, this is just ****ing sad. I look with envy at the leadership and organisation of clubs like Liverpool and City, shit, same with Brighton and Brentford. The industry standard for off field organisation has risen so much in the last decade but United refuse to change primarily because the Glazers look at the balance sheet and are happy that their business model of servicing debt and making a nice little income each year. They are like ****ing ivy on a once mighty oak, happy to choke the life out of it as long as they get what they want. ****ing parasites.

There is no way back as long as the Glazers stay. They have shown zero ability to modernise operational aspects the club (recruitment, fitness and nutrition etc) to industry standard and they will churn through managers until the club is no longer profitable. Then they will sell, with the risk being the club might just be too far gone to save at that point.

Are the glazers really the issue? They've splashed plenty of cash on players and have hired some decent managers.

Main issue is that there seems to be no clear strategy on who United buy. Liverpool and city clearly get players that will fit their system and Arsenal's plan is all about youth. United seem to chase a name rather than fit, both style and culture, and doing so is adding millions to their price tag. Like the pundit said last week, the likes of Brighton and Brentford are unearthing gems from all over the world yet United with their riches are struggling.

Are city and liverpool not going after the name bringing in players like Allison. Vvd. Haaland. Grealish?

Of course they are.

This is their business and the commercial interests have always overriden football interests. We see most clubs put in place clear recruitment structures and strategies to identify players who work within on filed systems, employ data analytics people et,. This has been the approach well run clubs have taken for years. United though had Joel Glazer and Ed Woodward approving transfers. ****ing bankers!

The way the club is run is archaic and that is 100% on the Glazers. What we see on the pitch now is the result of a decade of misguided recruitment driven primarily by commercial interest. The club is set up for failure.

Reckon united missed a trick not going English / epl at this stage of the rebuild.

Essentially lost henderson for free. Amount the better English gk prospects.

Dcl. Abraham. Toney. Watkins. Etc. Are a level under what youd want a united striker to be but at least they are somewhat proven.

Players like neves. Youri. Phillips. Jwp. Maddison etc. For the middle

Should have paid the extra early to help fdj settle into the team imho. Was always a dangerous and cheap ploy with yet another season now gone.

Should have gone for Rice vs. Sancho, but obviously happy they didn't.

Internally they've always rated their midfield higher than what it actually is.

McTonimay spraying the ball out in injury time summed up where he's at in his career currently.

Needed both rice and Sancho but owners too cheap.

Look at city getting in Phillips to be the back up 6.

Interesting cfc linked to some of the biggest assets outside the top teams; Rice, Fofana.

Reckon fdj would fit well there too. Changed the game for Barca it sounds like post Gavi sub

The issues are soooooo much bigger than who plays central midfield. That is just a symptom of what is almost a terminally ill club.

Just saw this. Neville is on the money on every point. Something will have to give soon as the $$$ just ain't there anymore and no CL football on the horizon.
But where was he complaining when they were paying his wages?

Ownership is an issue to an extent, but there are many on field issues.
