Manchester United: Where to next?

I don’t get comments like this. The managers whether it is Mourinho, OGS and now ETH have always been given money by the Glazers to buy new players. It is just they are buying the wrong ones and spending far too much. They’ve overpaid on Pogba, Maguire, even Sancho. Even Martinez in this window. Sometimes the best move is to walk away and focus on other targets.
the glazers have spent 0 mil of their own money they are relying on money made from sponsorships and fans

It'd be a mistake to presume that getting rid of the Glazers would solve all the clubs problems, there's problems in just about every department, on field and off field.

I'd be starting with the players that have underperformed for years now and then briefed the press that it's all the managers fault. United will know who they are, and it's ridiculous that they haven't already been drummed out of the club.

Why sell them when you can give them new contracts to protect their asset value. Most are gone now tbf.

They're in trouble and if they don't sort it out, they'll be left behind.

Everton went from easily the 7th best club in the prem, Europa performances and deep FA cup runs to relegation fodder within 5 years.

United are certainly capable of becoming a middling 8th-10th place team. It's a snowball effect, you lose CL, then you lose EL, your revenue is shot and your global marketing starts falling away, leading to more loss of revenue and so on.

I'm not saying the above will happen but I think it is possible, if they don't sort it out.

That's the old structure. Regardless of that, Joel Glazer signs off on every transaction and he hires a consulting firm outside of United to advise him on transfers.
That was put in last year. Glazer may sign off for the money side and external consultants would just check valuations. Club picks the players

Not even remotely similar.

Well it's changed since then. Half the people on that structure have left.

Agents contact external consultants and recommend players. Club scouts recommend players, their views are rejected and then they leave.

Realistically, do you think ETH is around come season's end?

I think he will get a full season.

The more worrying thing is that the problems are clearly deeper than just shoring up the midfield. It is tempting to just burn the whole thing down and start again but that is not possible within a season.

Edit - oh wait did you mean will he walk? That's a definite possibility, who would want to take on this mess?

Murtough is still responsible for recruitment and transfer strategy. He’s also been copping flak in media as maybe giving ETH too much say. Malacia, Martinez and Eriksen are players ETH knows from Holland. Widely reported how Rangnick was shocked how shit the recruitment set up was.

I have no idea. If I was him I'd resign today.
Wow.

A bit of both, sacked or resigned.

And everyone derided Rangnick at the time. Who else in world football had a manager led recruitment strategy? Its ridiculous. Van Gaal pointed it out when he arrived at United. Managers are generally not that great at identifying players.

The Glazers lied to ETH and he doesn't need the money. Why hang around. His reputation isn't tarnished by this. Everyone in football knows what a shitshow United are so he will get a pass.

Arsenal since Arsene a better comparison.
Except it seems like now that the Gunners have at least got a plan and vision in place, United just seem rudderless. Whether it works for Arsenal we may see in May.
Conte wouldn't have helped anything. The Glazers won't let anyone build what City and Liverpool have.
Then worst case scenario they have a world class manager at the helm, ignore him, and then watch him leave and diss the club on the way out.
Leaving everyone with no confusion at where the fault lies.

Conte has managed to get ENIC to crowbar open its cheque book and that's a nut as hard to crack as the Glazers.
Redknapp is a fool.
Yeah certainly though Gary was the one making more sense.
Don't agree with the conclusion Cruyff14 has come to at all.

Well it’s Murtough who’s given them the power to do so
Nup.

Football people have been over ridden by Glazer and his consultants.
Rubbish. The three signings as ive said before were influenced by ETH and that’s on Murtough. Just supporters funds a boogey man for their own problems…Glazer and his consultants
