FallingLiefs first starter looked good in R1 visually

Think they might have gone fairly poorly behind it. Was fairly even through the straight and never really quickened was just better than them. Good staying prospect if it can get there but wouldn't be on next start to the eye at least.

9L slower than BM78 (BM90 in eastern state terms, very consistent types) and 6L slower late on what looks a soft track puts it well below standard maiden class.

It would be rare for any Set Weights / Penalties group race but I have never seen a Melvista where top weight the same as bottom, top is 3yo BM58 winner and 2nd fave 2 starts ago maiden winner. Bottom number, 3 start maiden.

Every horse 55kg as no one won a race to write home about!

Bogart/Red Hot Tip on par for standard 3yo average-below average derby winner if they improve standard amount so no huge knock on ability but more so the fact nothing has actually put their nose in front.

VE just won a WFA event by 4.5L.

Not only that she would have won another by more if not for a champion stakes competitive horse last start.

It seems likely she will be outweighted but you are kidding yourself if you are gauging her off previous form. Despite those still criticising her she has been absolutely huge this prep. You need only remember Whoshotthebarman in these type of races was far inferior and had multiple top 5's in the MC with 3kg off top weight. It's OK to say, gee she improved this prep how good is she going. I didn't think she was even worthy of a Cox Plate start 6 months ago but she would be top 5 seed now.

4YO mare ffs who's looked like she needed time since the start of career and she's finally got it.
