That program is spot on for IAD. Key to the horse is it goes off after 4 runs. It's vulnerable first up,then goes very well in run 2 and is a gun in fun 4. Think you will find that if connections are serious about setting Fiorente for Royal Ascot that it will miss the Ranvet and run in the BMW and the QE - That means going to Ascot in his fifth race.

For me the Ranvet could be the race of the carnival. IAD and Fiorente WFA over 2400m is a mouth watering prospect.

Did I read correctly that Gai is setting Fiorente for the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot? Yet more proof that she actually has NFI a lot of the time - it would be beaten about mile.

The only race that really suits it at Ascot is the Prince of Wales's in which Fiorente would be totally outclassed unless it is an extremely weak year.

I doubt they will go to the Ascot Gold Cup. Fiorente is now racing for the breeding barn. The Prince of Wales would be the logical race. I hope Fiorente goes to stud in 2014 so that we can access its staying blood. No need to race on after mid-year.

It is being reported over here that the owners want to go for the Gold Cup.

As for the Prince of Wales - Treve is also aiming at the race - I doubt he'd get within 10 lengths of her. One of the journos on the racing channel over here this morning summed my views up pretty well - 'the Prince of Wales?!? He'll have a good view of the whole field in the straight'.

Thoughts for the day.

Morphettville.

R1 - Kushadasi
R2 - Beyond The Battle
R3 - Sunset Rock (added later on after hearing trainer spruik)
R4 - Le Roi
R5 - Red Magnet
R7 - Big Memory
R8 - Just Discreet e/w

Mooney Valley

R5 - Beau Jez e/w
R6 - Accord e/w
R8 - Girl Guide

Good luck all:thumbsu:

As I said - Fiorente is racing for stud fees - Getting well beaten in the Prince of Wales is more attractive that running third in the Gold Cup.

Crikey how good is the Canterbury stakes field? Zoustar at 2.70 seems nice odds, but Notlistenintome is a massive danger with untapped ability, and who knows how good Appearance is going to go with multiple G1 wins 3rd up. Red Tracer is as honest as the day is long as well. Very far from deciding who I'll back but Notlistenintome and Appearance look the way to go for my liking with runs under their belt.

Happy to bet around the 3yo's here, for mine these two just happened to be the best of an average bunch of sprinting 3yo's, they need to have made the natural progression from Spring 3yo's to Autumn 3yo's and then some to be able to compete with the better open age horses, until they prove they are up to the top line open age horses I will be risking them.

Their presence in this race presents a great betting opportunity in my opinion, I have already backed Red Tracer @ $5s and will be backing Appearance for the same result, she is currently $6.50 but I reckon I might get better. I will have two high quality mares running for me against 2 talented yet unproven 3yo's, if they knock me off here I will make my money back on them next time.

Other early bets I have made are Atlante @ $8s and Mourinho @ $21s.

^ Nice av MM

Didn't take long for the $4 Buffering to disappear - don't think I'll bet against him but perhaps Snitzerland superior at the 1000m?

I'm keen on Snitzerland in this, yes Buffering's recent form reads well on paper and he is a big threat but in reality his actual performances in the Spring of 2013 were not much better than those of Spring 2012 on my ratings, he just didn't have much to beat. For example the rating I had for him winning the Moir was about 2.5 lengths inferior to Sea Siren from 2012 and his win the the VRC sprint was nearly 5 lengths inferior to Mental's 2012 win.

Snitzerland's last 3 1000M runs have all been good enough to win this, 2 big wins @ WFA level then a very close 2nd to Lankan Rupee giving him 2.5kgs, at the time people questioned the form but the race rated highly with me and the form of Lankan Rupee since is better than any horse in Australia.

At his best Buffering can win but hasn't raced at 1000M for sometime, his last 1000M race he beat Golden Archer and Stirling Grove and didn't rate well enough to beat Snitzerland in any of her last 3 1000M runs.

I think she has the edge with fitness and at the 1000M, expecting her to be too sharp.

She has been drifting since markets opened with the support for Buffering, I will be having my maximum bet on her here and I'm hoping I can get her @ $3s.

Sessions is the other danger.

I'm so excited for this race! This is already vindication for the work the ATC has done in creating a true, high profile, high paying Autumn Carnival.

I was originally looking at going up to Randwick for the first day of The Championships - I'm now thinking I'll drive up (from Canberra) for the Golden Slipper.

Every one of these cracking races in preparation for the features gets me more and more excited, and makes me more likely to go up more than once.
