If Masten was simply defneidng his friend with reaosnable force then it's fair enough, but if he is to be found the insitgator in the whole thing, then he should be punished by his club. Perosnally I don't care, but if WC want to make a difference within the club, then they should start to come down on this sort of behaviour.

I dont mind seeing a bit of arrogance in kids...sometimes its a good thing as long as he understands how dumb it looks unless he can back it up on the paddock.

At 18 he's just getting himself his first set of guns after fulltime gymwork. He'd be full o juice and confident as hell. You dont shoot that in the foot. Guys at the club will be in his ear about his opportunities and he'd be looking around at some premiership players feeling shit hot about being in amongst it. Its a bloody dream come true. That stuff effects 18yo's in different ways. What he does now isnt that big a deal unless its serious.

Without knowing the bloke there's no point assuming its anything other than one of those "unavoidable" moments that just happen...sometimes there's just nothing u can do to stop it, and there's a lots of knobs out there just waiting to grow a backbone after a few beers.

Doesnt sound serious in the least...if i was the coach i wouldnt even talk to him about it. Get a lesser ranked official to remind him where he is but not make a big deal about it. Nothing wrong with a bit of aggression as long as he backs it up in the preseason/WAFL and pushes for an early game. He'll learn not to be baited by knobs.

If he was 25+ i;d think of it differently due to the maturity factor.

Yes, this is probably a nothing incident(I hope), and even though he's no doubt still a stupid kid-although supposably a leader- it still worries me that he's getting into trouble like this.

I've heard stuff about him, and he sounds even worse than Kerr is temper-wise. Even if he manages to be the next Chris Judd I don't want this shit speading at my club. He was picked as a safe draft pick, as in he's practically guarenteed 200 games given his talent, but I don't want another Ben Cousins.

I want someone who knows how to avoid stupid shit like this, that's the only problem I had with Masten as a draft pick, I just figured Glass, Stenglein, Cox etc could sort him out.

Every guy at 18 is different and reacts to that new feeling of power and strength differently.

I just dont think shooting down confidence and mild arrogance is a good thing when a kid has talent. He would have been allocated a cpl of "mentor" types like all clubs do...they'll likely push his head back in if its too big.

Controlling the attitude is a juggling act but there's nothing to suggest he's a smoking gun after one minor blue.

We tend to be harsher on the mature guys when they go off the rails for very good reason. The Farmer/Tarrant/Cousins type problems or incidents need to be treated harsher. You dont squash a kids confidence though just because he gets in a minor blue.
