Should play him on the wing and next season give him Mainy's No 3 .

Masten has some pace so find some space to use it , but Woosha is not using him at all well ... Masten can not be totally blamed although his disposal under pressure is poor

If half the things people write about him on here are true in regards to his attitude, then giving him the No 3. would be the worst thing for him.

the spud can not run out half a game.

he is a soft baby bing nursed because he is no 3 and we have to let him have a crack.
no matter where he is on the field he is a liability.

he has a preseason to show some guts, work hard and give something - then if not I can watch him play for GWS if the will take him.
Give him No 3?? No way. I wouldnt let him train in a club jumper the way he dogs it at the moment

Lets be frank. The guys a ice cream and he spends most of the day licking himself and enjoying the taste. Dont really care if hes not in the worst performed players etc. Just drop the tosser.

Isn't it strange that alot of people at the club rate him as one of the top midfielders at the club? IIRC woosh said at the start of the season to expect big things from him and a couple of weeks ago in an interview with kerr, Kerry rated him and shuey as the best midfielders at the club. Just strange how they all say that and yet he is struggling big time...

The thing about Masten is that he rates himself very highly and acts like a superstar off field but yet has not done a single significant thing yet on the field.

He needs a chance to improve his match fitness, but if he does not perform to his ability then im sure he will get dropped and get the wake up call that he needs.

I predict that will happen early next year.

There is no doubt the club are playing him more than they would if he wasnt a top3 pick because I think they REALLY want him to do well, especially because he was involved in the Judd trade in a way.

The problem is that it's probably hindering his development.

Yes I remember this. Woodhouse had ties of some sort so he didn't play a part in the recruiting.

Masten was hanging around and working at the cub a lot prior to be drafted. He really wanted to be drafted by the Eagles. Unfortunately I think this did have a say in the decision. But back then, they're all just kids with potential so of course that's going to swing your vote.

Not all players ooze class like Sheppard in their first year. Give Masten another five years he will slowly progress.

Kane Lucas really wanted to be drafted by the Eagles too, but the Eagles chose a player from a family of Docker supporters.
Masten wanting to be drafted by WC had no impact. He had no clout or input at WC, then or now.

I think it's a pretty large issue that they continue to pick players with groin issues. It's pretty hard to build any fitness and confidence when you cant run and kick without being in pain.

It's even harder when you can't run, can't kick, can't make decisions and can't be ersed chasing the opposition too. Then it's harder still when you act like you're god's gift to the game off the field.

But what do you care Pav? You should be delighted he's getting a game no matter how cack he is.

Your honest but in this case your totally wrong.

Look, See, Comment.

The other thread was a bit of laugh, but Masten was a very good junior.

The issue I have with his game, or maybe he has been instructed to play this way, is that he is trying to run and carry.

That's not his go. He was always the bloke firing out the deft handball, not sure why he's being asked to change how he plays considering he was drafted for playing as an inside mid.

Maybe it's Priddis taking his time.

Playing on the forward flank probably means that he's being instructed to run and carry.

I would like for him to play actual midfield game time. I'm very surprised that the only time, in the whole year, that he actually has played significant midfield game time, was the derby earlier in the year. Didn't before that, and hasn't since.

I don't understand wtf Woosha is trying to achieve. Trying to shock and awe in derbies??

Amen, the most sensible post I've seen here!:thumbsu: Run and carry is not his go, but maybe he's doing this because he has no one like a Palmer, or Morton, on his outside like juniors??

Not sure.

Could be that, could also the fact that I was alluding to that Priddis is deemed superior on the inside.

I doubt he'd try and take it upon himself to be something that he's not unless he's been told to play that way.

I'm convinced he still has groin troubles, and as a result is being played as a forward. I think it's bullshit, he's not going to develop in a position he doesn't play when he can barely break out of a jog. No need to play him, give him the rest of the year off, let him play WAFL where he can play in the middle. Then hopefully his groin troubles go away and he can build some strength/fitness over the pre-season.

We have had a crazy amount of players with groin injuries in the last three years. Would like to know the reason behind it.
I just reckon we back ourselves in all the time to develop the kids correctly, and right now it's looking like a bad strategy.

Given your supposed inside knowledge and insight that you love to boast Pav, what would you say in regards to the perception of his character/attitude (i.e cocky as all hell) on here?

Palmer and Masten are cocky little shits off the field.
