We have been on the wrong end of a bunch of close losses under a goal in the last 2 seasons. Some we were umpired out of the game to great cost, others we just failed to get it done.

The most glaring thing is our inability to dominate contending sides around the ball..we always seem to be reactionary and the opposition wheel away with ball in hand and we are on the defensive, or when we win a clearance we are generally rushed and under pressure. Its a fundamental flaw in our ability to control games on our terms and whilst we are very competitive, its a key area we lose and in close games its fatal.

Thete needs to be a root and branch overhaul of our cb set ups and around the ground set ups..playing personel is part of it (ruck and on ballers) and we are starting to get more dynamic players in there. But its the coaching setups and the ineffective counters to what the oppo do that just happens week after week.

I truly believe if we had a better midfield line coach, some of this woukd be cleaned up and results would start to flow.

He has no feel for the game or tactical nous.


Right coach for the rebuild and bringing in a good culture.


But not good enough to take the next step.

I think there are aspects of his coaching which are good. At times our movement is quite good.


His use of the sub is amateurish.



Wonder who's turn it is to come off next week on his roster.

He is best suited as an Assistant Coach I feel.

We were sold a narrative of a rebuild. So he got given this pass. Rookie Coach with rookie players.

In the end he is still playing 50% of the same senior players that Pyke had and reliant on traded stars and a few top end draft picks. He really hasn't produced a lot himself.

We are a counter attack team, so its ingrained in our game plan to defend the drop of the ball rather than attack. You’ll win the next two home games and comfortably, but the Hawks game in two weeks is a watch. Losing to the reigning premiers by a kick could be deemed “acceptable” but going under to a bottom four side is most certainly not.

Oh i think its easy to see with my own eyes as we got towelled up all day around the ball and what changed?. Who controls how tge mids are coached and who sets up the structures for them?

It was the same v port where they had heaps of ball at stoppage but just didn't punish us. Brisbane as well last week.

If we were the side regularly wheeling out of centre or from a field stoppage under little pressure because we worked it through a defined system, then you woukd logically say we were well coached in that area of the ground.

Remember when we had teague as our forward coach...our setups and systems alliwed us to be lethal up there. When he left we lost that edge.

My point is line coaches can make or break a side as much as a head coach and the sniff test says we are very deficient in midfield structures

A full rebuild shouldn't take 5 years plus. Surely. Even Port when they were getting hammered in 2010, 2011, 2012 turned over 90% of their list and 2013 rebounded to nearly make finals or made finals i cant remember and 2014 went deep into the finals. We somehow cant even manage to get close to finals after 7 years. 5 under the same coach. The club should be hauled in front of the media to demand answers frankly.

They aren't. Again, we don't know. But for all we know and are guessing is a failing, it could be just as much he is getting the best out of what he has at his disposal while working with Nicks instructions. As I said, guess work.
