Scorpus maybe you can add this to your OP.

Max will have a long decent career with us I reckon. We really don’t have a defender like him. Tall enough to contest with third talls, but agile enough to play on smalls. He’s just not a spoiler, he can mark and he’s not a stop start player, has decent pace and run and will take the game on.

Needs to build on his frame which will happen, I think we should see him a fair bit in 2024.

Lot of nice movement stuff in that video. Kick looked a bit wonky hitting the boot at times. But his contested stuff and willingness to run hard and forward is pretty exciting.

Some resemblance to Andrew Mackie in those highlights.

We get a first rounder for a bunch of junk picks, that's value!

What does he track as a 2nd or 3rd tall defender? Can he provided any drive off the backline or he is more of a lock down defender?

People saying we're going into deficit next year on Twitter? How'd we get picks back if that's the case?
Mark Bickley on AA confused some people, including myself when he said if Max goes around that pick 15-18 that the crows could go into deficit next year. nice to know we haven't!

He probably wasn’t accounting for the picks to come in in value due to other matches.

That's what I thought as well.

If he bulks up well he could be a Nathan Bock style running defender who loves to go for a run and bounce but I'd be happy with either.

The best thing about him is his current frame..

Its totally undeveloped.. look at him, ive seen thicker rake handles!..

And yet he’s been playing against men in the SANFL and, by all accounts, has held his own..

Think of how well he’ll go when Darren Burgess puts him on a plan, gets some more meat on his bones, bulks his muscles up and increases his core strength and fitness.

So much potential for improvement and further development.

Hopefully he gets a debut next year to give him a taste of AFL but I reacon he’s gonna spend most of the year in the gym, the kitchen and the SANFL getting that frame of his ready for the rigors of AFL.. much like Gollant has had to since he walked into the club through the crack of the just slightly opened front door..

He won’t put on much, guys built like that never do. He’s got real Ben Hart vibes about his dimensions.

If he turns out half as good it’ll be alright!

Didn’t you make bets around TT going at 9?
What are you talking about? I've always said I would have selected Thilthorpe ahead of McDonald as he has a point of difference of being able to play as the 5th midfield with his elite clearance work using his vision by hand so how can he had slip to 9 lol. You are hilarious.

Pick 17, Adelaide: Max Michalanney (father-son - matching Sydney's bid)

Doerre Power Rankings: outside-20

Recruited from: Norwood (SA)

Likely role: General defender - negating style with a focus on limiting the impact on the opposition's best small or medium forward.

Readiness and likelihood to play: Michalanney should be in the round one mix and be looking to establish himself as a regular in season one.

What you should know: The son of Jim, Max Michanney is eligible to join Adelaide as a father-son selection due to his father playing more than 200 games for SANFL club Norwood. An athletic defender, Michalanney plays a negating style and is effective shutting down forwards of various heights and types.

Future forward line coach?

I was disappointed in the Fox/Kayo coverage last night they showed 98% of the first rounders receiving their jumpers. I assume Nicks was at Marvel last night? I assume he was maybe he was here as we didn't see Max get him jumper on the coverage.
