Bad news on the Max Michalanney front.

Accordingly to (mainly) Hard Ball Get, Jim Michalanney was in the best players or goal kickers for 13 NFL (ie Escort Cup-esque) matches (1 of 2 in 1976, 3 of 4 in 1977, 2 of 2 in 1978, 2 of 4 in 1979, 1 of 1 in 1982, 2 of 2 in 1983, 2 of 2 in 1985). Meaning the most SANFL matches he could have played in the actual SANFL was 198.

Norwood played in a further 8 NFL games where Jim could have played but wasn't in the best players or goal kickers. So it could have been as low as 190 SANFL games.

I dunno if many watched the AFL.com coverage last night, by the amounts of complaints about fox, it probably wasn't many, but I found it mostly listenable and when they wandered off it was a good time to look at a BF update

Getting to the point, there was a point where one of them said Sheezel said Max was the hardest defender he had to play on and then another one of them chimed in with something along the lines of "actually, that's right, several of the top draft picks named him as the hardest to play on".

Could play as a 3rd tall too, but the more tall, versatile intercept players we have, the better

Can't see him ending up anything like Kelly. He's keen to run, there's more Johannison in him than there is Kelly. Kelly was 'lockdown' because that's all he could do, provided nothing else but thwarted ball movement.

Kelly was a very good defensive player who tried hard... he just lacked awareness and kicking skills. I hope Max will beat him well and truly in these areas

Afl will introduce a rule for 2023 only that navy and white hooped teams can pick up a player with last name Doedee in the preseason draft for free.

Goes well with the old rule that clubs can get a free top ten pick if they win the premiership and the coach's twin brother is AFL GM of football to draft a local boy ahead of rebuilding clubs.
