Max Rooke you star!

Hell yes.

Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind. The Hawks have beaten off to unsociable football all year; Rooke is a master at it. Did his best to get himself suspended at the opening bounce last year and I don't doubt he'll do it again.

hahaha owned!

I personally didn't think it was a free kick.

I've seen you on the geelong local league thread and you got no idea pal.. Give it up. All the replays in the world and you still got no clue.. Have you played the game?? Ask any person who plays this game.. It's a free kick in the U14 division 4 you moron..

Why is it that bogans are the ones that breed

And in the words of Malcolm Blight, I couldn't give a rats tossbag about what you think :)

And again...why does a Mod feel the need to personally insult someone who made a perfectly simple and articulate (original) comment.

I always thought "you guys" were here to get rid of all this stuff??

Amazing.

A grown man (well, assumedly) drawing a brown spot on an AFL player's shorts...

Yeah, gotta watch those bogans...

...oh, and since things seem to want to get carried on...S "Thinks He's Daicos" J...how'd your boy go??
Any excuses offered up for a clear worst on ground?

Take it a bit serious don't ya? I was messing around

Did u read his last post? Or just read the reply? I wasn't replying to his original post..

Clear worst on ground? Wasn't his best game for sure but kicked two - your entire side kicked seven, and we won by five.

Why would I make excuses? Let's face it, Geelong were well below par, playing the third best side in the land, and still won by five goals in a Preliminary Final.

Should I ask your excuses for your whole side kicking seven for the match?

And none in the last when the game was there to be won ;)

Geelong forward Cameron Mooney said yesterday it was an obvious oversight and a turning point in the match.

"That was a huge turnaround," Mooney said.

Or doesn't Cam's opinion count as much as Eddie's?

Should I ask your excuses for your whole side kicking seven for the match?

Too many crooked shots. ;)

3 less shots...2 less if you take out the Rooke gift...was far closer than the final 5 goals, and you guys know it.

Maybe that's why such a big deal was made over the Rooke thing. You all knew it was still completely in the balance until that point...
...nothing like a bit of blind relief to make you all comment so very wrongly about one so very obvious incident.

Anyway (again! :D )...should be a cracking game next week.

Let's just hope we don't see one of those "We wouldn't want that to decide a Grand Final" moments either way. :thumbsu:

No offence, but seriously, a lose is a lose. Wheather it's by 1pt or 100pts, it was a cut-throat ELIMINATION final, & your team lost. Wheather that single dission would have changed the out come of the game is irrelavent, because at the end of the game, you didn't come away with the win. Even your coach said, in the post game interview, that he wasn't sure if those shots on goal or that free kick decision would of won you the game. But rather given you's more of a chance in the end. We could sit here all day, all week, & talk about "what ifs", when in the end the result was decided. I would have been guttered too, Dogs had their chances & played well, but in the end weren't good enough. That's footy & every teams supporters have that feeling. That's why we love it so much, because of the emotion it brings out of us.

Yet in the end it's the Cats into the GF & dogs out. You just got to live with it & get over it.

At the time, I expected a free to be paid.

But as I've said elsewhere, Rooke had to go and go hard and he didn't let anyone down by doing what he did.

The important point you accept, is that it had no bearing on the result.

It may have you never know. At at that stage of the last quarter we had kicked three points you had not scored you were only 17 points up at the time....crucial free kick

I am honest enough to say that, Geelong took their chances on the night,
and kicked straight, we had our chances & didn't simple as that....

Thats footy.

the way some people are carrying on you would think the game was decided by less than a kick.

Even if he got the free kick, it was in your backline.. who's to say we wouldn't have got the ball back and kicked a goal anyway... and even if we didn't, you still would have had to have kicked 3-0 to take the lead.

Umpires are never going to get every decision right, its a part of the game... deal with it.

Read my post, I've dealt with it.... just a stupid thread & extremely biased
by many Geelong posters....again I say we will never know. Thats Footy

Cheers

Most will agree it should've been a free kick, but the umpires make mistakes every game and there's no point in saying that the dogs would've won if the umpire gave the free kick.

The biggest question for me is this. How many of the dog's players would've committed themselves to that 50/50 contest in the way that Rooke did? To me this is pretty obvious, and IMO Johnson could've gone a lot harder at that ball also. The way that Rooke threw himself at that footy like he does at every opportunity gives the overall answer about who should've, did, and deserved to win that game of footy.

Rooke wanted it more than Johnson, and you've gotta give him credit for playing the game in a way that will leave him sitting in the rooms at the end of the day with no regrets, unlike some of the dog's boys who will no doubt have plenty to think about over the coming weeks.

The thread was started as an admiration of Rooke's courage and hardness at the ball (and still would have been the case even if he did give away a free).

It was other posters that turned it into a stupid thread, whinging that it 'could have' affected the result

No it wasn't below is the original post, I've highlighed the appropriate section for you....... there is no need to LIE

PS: And it wasn't gutsy, any one can run at a player front on, particularly when he is looking at the player & not the ball !!!!

Max Rooke you star!
How good was that bump on Johnson running back with the flight, taking him out, getting straight back up and then snapping that goal. Against the run of play when the doggies were really coming HARD at us. That was the goal that finished the doggies off. Maxi is born to play finals and proved it tonight.

Could one of the Mods of this board ban all biased Geelong supporters ?
We can't have any of that biased stuff on an actual Geelong board.

hahaha I found this very amusing.

I don't know what you're reading Snagboy...
Is it that quiet on your board now that your seasons over, that you have to come and argue in here?

hahaha I found this very amusing.

You must remember it was a Bulldogs supporter. They aren't use to seeing their players do gutsy things.Just look at Brad Johnson as a prime example - he closed his eyes and crapped himself at the oncoming Max*

* actually I would do the same if Max was running at me ;)

Why has the usual respect given to a player for running back with the flight of the ball just disappeared in this case. Rooke still put his body on the line and Johnson failed to use the situation to his advantage. By attacking the footy properly, Rooke probably would've come off second best anyway. It took a lot of guts for Rooke to run back in that direction when he knew Johnson would've been coming straight in that direction.

Of all the people who've commented on this instance in the media over the last two days, most have said it should've been a free kick. None however, have questioned or criticised Rooke's courage or application this contest whatsoever. If Rooke was playing for your club, what would you have preferred he done?

No Michy,

Not arguing, You weren't even at the game!!!!!!

Just pointing out that you are a liar !!!!!!!!!!!! You admitted yourself it was a free kick, and then you lied about what the post was about. If you read my previous posts the games history you won, we lost..

Thats Footy !!!!!!

This guy almost deserves an infraction for a violating the font size options.

They score 1 goal down the ponsford end of the ground. Their final score was less than our half time score and that 1 free kick in defence was crucial??

Yeah because you guys were rebounding so well from dead ball situations (behinds, etc)
