I don't know the Japanese form, is she gonna win?

Looks like the sorta thing I'd lay. 5YO Mare coming back off a career worst. The breeding on Primo Scene is so romantic for mine, Damian Lane is riding it too. I might just cheer that thing home, though Kluger form doesn't make me think it's any world beater.

Im not betting at that price but wouldn’t back anything to beat it.

King's Authority finally breaks through, 3.5 years after a Flemington 2YO win.

No idea what he's been doing, looks like he's been a good apprentices horse? FallingLiefs

Horse can fall off a cliff for all I care. First prep was good consistent saturday grade, 3wnc repetitively, blocked. Should have won 1 or 2 at least. Followed it after it's 3rd start beaten a nose 3wnc held form being unlucky then came back next prep barely midweek class. Went to Esperance and dropped further. Might have found some form at Kal but don't have his figures in front of me.

The softest win of the year goes to Almond Eye.

Jockey never moved a muscle on that .

Yup obviously just not right or anywhere near her best in the Arima Kinen. Had they met again I’d have backed her to turn the tables on LG

This first fave at Casterton has a great profile to lay, beaten hard in the market 3 or 4 times out of 7 and has the inside gate at $1.35.

Not much to beat but Yendall on the Wilde first starter and blinkers on the Maher/Eustace runner might be enough. I'll take a small chance to start the day.

If it didn't win by 7 lengths you would have been in the money .....unlucky!

Why wouldn't LG just brain them all again?

Do they have sand dunes in Japan or what? One of the most ridiculous wins I've ever seen that Arima Kinen.

AE ran 1:30.50 with the jockey not moving on her. Yikes

Japan have rolling times and run on bitumen so time does not mean too much in general sense. Also IMO when horses run at high tempo and are untouched it generally means they're doing it themselves in their own rhythm so they do not necessarily improve on it next start under heavy riding.

Now that negatives are out of the way, it was an extremely impressive performance when she was able to produce gaps as late as she did. Normally you see the field break open a bit earlier and margins appear earlier in the straight for big margin wins like that where 5L in one race doesn't equal 5L in another race. It's a key metric, how much a horse can do very late when they're positioned on speed. I think back to Russian Camelot BM70 he really took them to the cleaners in the last 200 and extending late a sign it was nowhere near his top.

Also Vega Magic back in the paddock after jarring up yesterday.

I didn't really know what to make of it yesterday when I did replays immediately after it looks like it could of gone either way, Durendal was good last start and looked to go to his absolute top with a run you can only dream of so may not have been a good gauge. While no star he can produce a performance here or there and he was good first up. Now looking at times it seems Durendal has gone just fairly. Everything bar the Mcaullife pair has gone poorly. Would Vega repeat that he would be noncompetitive later in the winter.

Yeah and I guess Almond Eye just fell over the line yesterday

SP profile in the AK tells you all you need to know - it beat Saturnalia further in the race directly before the AK.

AE would start fave for certain in a rematch - sadly we will never see it :(

Will trust the people who know what they're doing, the JRA ratings for now on which the Japenese handicappers have LG the clear superior horse.

They might give AE the better one after yesterday first up the mile but then there would be question marks on her ability to do it over 2500 for at least a start or two. (not saying she cannot run 2500).
