Not footy related but the clickbait from media in general is a disgrace
View attachment 1664689

The article is in relation to a meningitis death, but it's deliberately deceptive to attract the conspiracy theorists.

Speaking of Bali this one takes the cake:

She is doing a go fund me page to cover her $3000 hospital costs...

Dont a lot of only fans girls make 3k a week?

Wayne looking for the footy world to wrap their arms around him......again!!

“Everyone knows why I am out of the media, the so-called white powder saga at Crown Casino … which by the way had nothing in it, which hasn’t been said or even shown a photo of or there hasn’t been a picture of anything,” Carey said.

“I had a really emotional period after all that stuff came out in the media. People have got to understand that this type of reporting doesn’t affect me anymore, I have built a wall and have built a mask that is almost unbreakable.

“But who it does affect is my 17-year-old, my eight-year-old, my four-year-old, it affects the mother of those children who I am very, very close with, it affects their families, their aunties, uncles, their nans, their pops.

“It affects all of those people so I sat down and had a really emotional period and thought how can I give my voice to my truth for the first time in my life?”

Fixed that for you champ

He'd be better off just admitting it was cocaine, playing the mental health card, "wake up call for me", etc.

He’d be better off not bashing women or screwing his best mates missus and just quietly go away

It’s not like his insight as a commentator has been missed and he’s been replaced by other similar boofhead past players that mumble through stating the obvious

aww...I think Dermie is one of the better ones tbh.

Maybe it's the low bar?

You're not alone - he's genuinely excited by football and rarely says negative things without following up "he'll learn from that".

But he does take 100 words to say what can be said in 10.

He says a hell of a lot of words without actually saying much.
But he also seems to pick a narrative to run with before the match and then tries to fit anything he can into that narrative.

But then again he's no Pav so I guess he's got that going for him

I think when the concept was first raised the prevailing view was that it would go to Sydney under the guise of growing the game

That was until the SA premier chased it hard and threw money at the AFL to get it. In fairness to him I don’t think the other states saw the same opportunity and didn’t pursue it. Certainly McGowan didn’t, politics aside he’s not the most imaginative person when it comes to promoting the state, particularly when sports is involved

So as much as I’m pissed that the AFL has given it to SA for three more years without trialling it anywhere else, it has to be said the SA premier had the vision for what it could be and busted his arse to make it work. You only had to see him popping up every over the weekend promoting the * out of it

He laid the groundwork and got the reward

McGowan might not even be aware it happened

As a New South Welshman, I don't think McGowan quite understands how football still occupies the consciousness of West Australians. We are also 'theatre goers' as Corbin and others put it, and love spectacle.

He understands we are parochial, but doesn't get that we would also support the expenditure.

America's Cup, the new stadium, the GF here - Perth loves showing off. Time to pay up for next time, I think.

I feel like McGowan's approach is to maintain the status quo and hoard cash to head off anything political that comes up (either to solve a problem or spend on something people want). When it comes to footy, he'll jump on a bandwagon, but won't be the one to back a novelty. In contrast, the SA Premier took a risk on a new concept that was unproven.

It’s not a distraction but a question that absolutely should be getting asked and the sooner the better

It’s a simple concept that judging by some comments I’ve just read on Twitter eludes most, including dim witted Freo supporters who’s hatred of West Coast blinds them to the fact that what we asking would also benefit Fremantle

Pre gather round there was a certain equity in home games -

• Non-Victorian teams played 10 genuine home games against a visiting side from outside their state, 2 neutral games against their neighbour and 10 games where they’d travel to another state
• Victorian teams would travel 5-6 times per year, play a non-Victorian side as a genuine home game 5-6 times per year and the remaining 10-12 games against other Victorian sides. The qualification to this is North and Hawthorn who play games in Tasmania by choice and Melbourne who sold a home game to the NT. Geelong are a separate anomaly because they don’t share their home ground like the Melbourne clubs

It wasn’t an entirely fair system primarily due to geography but there was a logic to it

Gather round in SA gives another home game to the SA clubs whilst the other 16 clubs all have an extra out of state game, albeit at a neutral venue

In effect the SA clubs get an advantage

What West Coast are asking for is that we get that extra home game as we (and Freo) travel more than anyone else. And if we get it then so will Fremantle

The mistake we made was going it alone - we should have gone to Fremantle and presented a united voice

I just think they should have fit Gather around within the 22 matches with some Vic sides losing home games (they can do a marquee gate share) and the remaining QLD, NSW and WA would have kept their 11 home and 11 away

Barrett will say anything to get a reaction and particularly a positive one from Victorians and Matthew Lloyd would have to be dimmest genuine superstar player I've ever met. I have no idea how he has a gig on tv even with how low the bar over in Mexico. Hmmmm wait, former Essendon player and kicked 900+ goals. That'll do it. Oh and he'll say anything anyone prepares for him with no qualm or question. Makes a fair bit of sense actually.

Said it the other day. It’s whinging for the sake of whinging and deflection.. on one hand they are saying they made the extra flight to and from Adelaide as it’s better for the players but they are also sooking about the extra flights back and forth…

The eagles chose to do it the way they have.. own it. You can’t have it both ways.
