Personally, I think we are going pretty damn well all things considered - 16 of our best/better players injured and to go down by only 40 points in the last 2 games is highly commendable. The new playing style is being embedded too, and Simmo is on top of the spirit being shown. I think Simmo is doing well in the circumstances. After the bye, I expect some players back and wins to start to flow. If that equates to flying under the radar, then I agree.

This is feeling like 2010 - we are not winning but fighting out every game - real hope with a spirit to build on as players return and we draft in more quality.

Ummmmm

I'm obviously an innocent babe in the woods as I had no idea that was even a thing.
You learn something almost every day.

I am however slightly concerned that with no knowledge or experience I actually recognized it for what it was.

It only took 7 years but the media is finally highlighting the Bulldogs and their throws

They've been doing it a lot longer than 7 years. For years in the 90s and 00s and 10s they regularly had the highest possession midfields in the competition. But it was almost all 'handballs' rather than kicks. And the 'handballs' were invariably largely dodgy.
Libba snr, Cross, West were all throwers of the highest order.
Clearly a club taught thing.

You don't get any of your life back, that's how time works.

Agree but this may be optimistic.

BIG QUESTIONS OUT WEST

The coach always attracts the pressure and scrutiny but the most nervous people at West Coast might be those in the high-performance department. The Eagles have endured terrible runs with injury in recent years and despite some changes the injury problems have continued in 2023, leaving Adam Simpson handcuffed in his attempts to rise up the ladder this year. The Eagles tried hard on Saturday in the loss to Port Adelaide and mid-season pick-up Jai Culley had a breakout game snagging four goals, but with 16 players on the injury list, West Coast is certain to finish in the bottom few spots on the ladder again. Simpson is contracted for another year and will provide a steady hand in the short term, but the frustration is building around the injuries, simply bad luck or not.

The league seems to much prefer throwing than stoppages, so it’s hard to blame them

Paying free kicks and stoppages slow the game down too much.

...so let's watch 6 or more blokes roll around on the ground on top of the ball for 20+ seconds, avoiding a ball up, because someone might eventually throw the ball out to a loose man in an exciting display of "the free flowing modern game"

The AFL is steered by mental pygmies.

Don't think Jay got the memo that Simpson's, in fact, contracted for another 2 years.

I dont think he got the memo that Simmos position is looking a lot safer than JLos.
That too. He'll at least see out his contract, as the club is publicly backing him for the rebuild.

JLo, on the other hand. Multiple top 4 finishes and a flag in 5 years and we're now 3 years in...

I honestly think you're being very generous to the AFL.
