I got this from another site. Its the past winners and times of the Irish Leger, that septimus won by 13 lengths. take from it what you will

2002 Vinnie Roe 4 Pat Smullen Dermot Weld Seamus Sheridan 2:59.00
2003 Vinnie Roe 5 Pat Smullen Dermot Weld Seamus Sheridan 2:58.90
2004 Vinnie Roe 6 Pat Smullen Dermot Weld Seamus Sheridan 3:03.90
2005 Collier Hill 7 Dean McKeown Alan Swinbank R. Hall & A. Young 3:01.20
2006 Kastoria 5 Michael Kinane John Oxx HH Aga Khan IV 3:01.00
2007 Yeats 6 Kieren Fallon Aidan O'Brien S. Magnier & D. Nagle 3:03.40
2008 Septimus 5 Seamus Heffernan Aidan O'Brien Derrick Smith 3:11.97

That piece of information is about as useless as **** on a bull.
Times do not mean a great deal.

Take this years Cox Plate for example. Maldivian's time was slower than the Whobegotyou's race on the same day over the same distance.

Whobegotyou wouldn't have got near Mal in the Cox though.

Times can be very misleading.

Any horse that wins a Group 1 by 13 lenghts has to be taken seriously.

My tip is Septimus. Go boy.

far out i hate this race, but love it as well!!

all the horses are quality! picking a winner is a nightmare!

for my main bet i've gone with C'est Le Guerre to win and i chucked a little on it to place as well (insurance policy haha)

then for some fun i've got a couple of bucks each way on Barbaricus (been in good nick) and Prize Lady (most proven horse over the distance)

don't want to spend much more after a pretty lean spring carnival for my wallet (excluding Maldivian in the Cox) but i'm really keen to put dosh on Mad Rush & Moatize.. it's fair to say i'll end up going and wasting more money on them tomorrow:p

here are mine

$200 on PROFOUND BEAUTY win
$20 on MASTER O REILLY
$30 on ZIPPING
$50 quinella PROFOUND BEAUTY, MAD RUSH
$30 trifecta PROFOUND BEAUTY roving banker with 2,4,5,7,8 @ 50%

good luck all

Any reason for the lack of Master O Reilly love. Impressed with its form to date. Looks like its well prepared to cover the distance this time around. Ill be surprised if it doesnt atleast place

I'd heard from a very reliable source that it was set for the Caulfield Cup. A source that cost we a very considerable amount of money!!!

Anyway, he looked too dour to me, might leave it to you....

Its not aussie but profound beauty pays $101 and with the best form over 2 miles in the race (2 wins from 2 attempts at group 1) is at least worth a small each way bet.

Profound beauty looks to have the brilliance needed to a melbourne cup, but looks like a fish out of water on a wet track(not surprising being by danehill).
Backing her if the track is rated good.

However, I'm starting to lean toward Alessandro Volta. His Irish derby run was amazing. Even being wayward up the straight, he was still finding the line at the end of the race.

I've got a bit on Septimus, Mad Rush, Nom Du Jeu, Zipping, Profound Beauty and Bauer all for various places etc.

Reckon Bauer is gonna be right up there. Paying pretty good aswell. So too Septimus.

I like Barbaricus........I was going to back it tonight after work, but didn't get there...Wont bother now, too busy at TAB tomorrow..

Will be sooooooo angry at myself if he wins!

Littorio anyone? ran a beauty to knock of the hussler almost a month ago now.. minimal fanfare, tempting odds.. i'm contemplating getting on board

Alright fellas I have finally settled.. Its going to be an Aidan O'Brien domination of the cup.

Septimus will win!!! Honolulu,Allesandro Volta and Profound Beauty will run somewhere in the places.

Each year the cup has been run at a quick, slow, slow, quick tempo. This year Aidan won't let it happen and his chargers will make it a true staying test; and they will donkey lick our horses. I CAN SEE IT I TELL YOU !! His third best Allesandro Volta is better than Mahler at the same age, and we know what a good race he ran. Irish domination is coming, prepared for a big egg on my face.

PS. I am doing a rain dance at the moment to increase Septimus's chances. If it is dry it will just increase the chances of Honolulu and Allesandro.

Herald sun headline on Wednesday "Irish steal the cup" or something similar to that.

Barbaricus for me.

His run in the Caulfield was fantastic, he drew a very wide barrier and was at a major disadvantage because he likes to be up with the front runners. Was running 4 or 5 wide at the turn, would have run much longer than most in the race. Finished 3rd and hit the line strongly considering it run.

Another very good run in the MacKinnon, finished 2nd by a nose to Therso and was carrying 58.5kg, 8kg more than what he will have tomorrow.

The light rain that has been falling won't faze it i don't think, has a pretty good record, 2 starts, 1 win and a place on a dead track. It has also draw very well, barrier 3.
