Pushing sh*t uphill today against a team with their tails up and the Covid distraction. Not beyond us but the burden will be on the coaches to get the focus and gameplan spot on.
I think in transition from defence to attack, we are one of the best teams in the comp.
It's how we got back into the game against the cats.
We were 29 points down. I watched our replay again a few days ago & sure they kicked & marked plenty & there were a lot of 1,2,3 handballs, or basically nonsense possessions, which made their game look so dominant against us. But we forced them wide for shots, we forced their snaps from a long way out, they had a few charity goals handed to them but we handled ourselves incredibly well & were so efficient. That's been the case in quite a few games this season so it's no fluke but part of our game plan.

Buddy will be the key tonight but not because I expect him to kick a bag for us from the get go but because he can throw their back line into chaos.
If Buddy plays the team role by getting up the ground tonight, allowing the other forwards to do their thing, then we have got the Dees easy.
If we are on top of the Dees in this manner by 3Q time, I reckon Buddy will cut loose in the last & they won't go with him.
We'll mix it up & they won't have the answer. We'll be up by 4 goals at 3Q time & win this by 30-40points.

Gulden to kick 3, Buddy 3, McLean 2, Paps 2, Dawson 2, Wicks 2, Parker, Warner, Hickey & Hayward to also hit the scoreboard.
Defensively Rampe & McCartin will dominate, Warner, Kennedy & Rowbottom to dominate the mids.
We've got them covered folks.
The MCG is built for Warner. He is a gun & by the end of the game, he will be the big rave in the footy world.

Fox back in feels huge.
He was all run in the twos and it felt like he was running angles that had been practiced all off season.

Maybe this will be the game where the Swans 2021 defence to attack plan really comes into effect.
Well for someone who was delisted only to be clumsily put back onto the list as a rookie, I'm confused as to why he was rushed into the team after one game in the twos. So obviously he is rated by the coaches, but again I ask the question, why was he delisted?

I really like Fox as a player here's hoping he can bring his form from twos into today's game.

Really perplexed that Blakey would get the call up (even as sub) over someone like campbell. Blakey was poor last week and Campbell collected 25 touches.
They rotate people in and out of the sub. I'm 100% sure it's not based on how close the player is, but just to make sure everyone gets a run in the seconds.

I honestly believe they intended to re-rookie him. I'm sure that's what they said when the rule changed to allow that.

That’s just an excuse

COVID had been going on for a while now

You adapt quick enough , there professional

No excuses what so ever

Having the three assistants excluded is a unique proposition, even in Covid times, that will likely have impacted on the thoughtspace of even the most experienced of players, and at this elite level and against this quality opposition, it is less than ideal.
My thoughts weren’t offered as an excuse.... indeed I did say “it is not beyond us”, merely my opinion.
Thank you for taking the time to enlighten me with your thoughtful response but please save your energy for somebody that wasn’t already coaching sport before you’d chosen to make concreting your career over the glamour of being a professional athlete.

I agree with it but stiff thar Stephens was dropped. Hope he has a blinder in the reserves and forces his way back in.
alas the reserves game for this weekend has been postponed :(

there are no elephants near me

guess that means there are no elephants anywhere

The point is only a few showers predicted. If you know anything about the G you'll know it drains well and rain won't be an issue. Dew is the bigger issue. Anyway despite your stupid comment it's not like there is a significant weather event that will change how the game is played

I'm confident that we will win this game.
No offence to Reid (who is having a good season), but I had forgotten he was injured, so I realise Sinclair is playing his role,
with McLean and Sinclair helping out in the ruck, so perhaps not as tall a side as when I first read the team.

We will have the spread of goal kickers - Gulden, Hayward, Lance, McLean, Papley, Sinclair, Wicks with Hickey running into forward line for Gulden to direct a beautiful pass to him. Warner taking the ball out of the centre to run to kick a goal, perhaps Dawson, Florent, McInerney or Parker working their way forward will kick a few goals between them.

Love our backline with Rampe 😍 back, and Fox was BOG last week in the reserves with his marking, running out of the backline, a well-deserved recall to the seniors.

Rowbottom played better in the second half of last week's game, so hopefully his knee is on the improve.

I'd hate to have a another close game, so let's win this by 21 points.

I would love a stirring 37 pt win too, but that Dees midfield shits all over ours and that may we’ll be the telling factor. Fingers crossed the red and the blue have an off day today

Need the midfield to kick arse and dominate. Forward structures to hold that lovely separation they had going against the Tiger's with accuracy the key. and defence to make like the wall of China!

So basically a full team effort across all 4 quarters will get us across the line.

No biggie.

just because we lost to gold coast doesn't mean you have to make fat jokes about their coach

To motivate him to work harder ??
I have no idea, but he looked like a first team player last week. In fact, he was Strutting around like a 10 year veteran.
