Why would they waste pick 17 on a guy that has selected another club of preferance? Doesn't that kind've tell you he doesn't want to go to the Dees????

Word is Melbourne will give Freo our #1 pick for there #3 and Warnock, which then ensures Freo will get there man Natanui, West Coast were chasing Natanui, but will settle for Rich, And Melbourne will get there man Watts. Good source.

I would have thought the draft would have Watts at 1, Rich at 2 and Natinui 3 regardless. Would freo not be better served looking for a trade with the aim of securing yarran within the top 10, even if it means offering up another player. The real problem here is the victorians cost an inflated price to keep west, and to get quality WA players back costs us more (Farmer, headland etc). I would rather see freo swap Warnock and Murphy to Carlton for pic 6 allowing freo to get both Natinui and Yarran. two victorians gone with two locals remaining. That leaves port adelaide and Freo to battle something out for carr and Krackour (might cost shammer an ex south australian) No matter what happens freo need to bolster their west australian playing stocks, otherwise we will continue to have a playing group earning more than there worth.
As for warnock's worth, I can honestly say that he has a competative edge that will surprise his detracters. having constantly had to cut his teeth trainig against sandilands, he displays a never say die attitude and a very competative spirit. Add this to his great skills and he is definately worth th hype

Polo's a good player. I'd like him to stay but you have to give to receive.
Good post. If you're afraid of losing Victorians, don't draft them. Geelong built a team with home town boys and country kids. You could do the same.

I have only ever tried to put some perspective into an otherwise irrational debate.
When someone posts a clip about how great Warnock is they could do better than put in something where he loses the tap, gets a lucky free and 50m penalty........
The clips of his Saints game earlier this year are far better........gee, did I just talk him up...........maybe we should offer 6 AND 24........

The ....... are for pauses numb nuts.......to empasise a break in dialogue without and end of a sentence.......especially useful when being sarcastic as with my post above. You can see spaces between words that flow.

Given that the Dees tried to woo him, and his brother is there, for him to suggest the Blues are of interest is quite rightly seen as a bit of a blow to the Dees.
Ruled out? Of course not, but I think the point is valid. Clearly the Dees isn't his number 1 choice, so quite rightly the question is asked by Juddrockz "Why waste the pick on him"?
This is a trade that i think all clubs would be satisfied with:
Freo:
Lose: Warnock
Gain: Griffin and 2nd round pick
Carlton:
Lose: 2nd and 3rd pick
Gain: Warnock
Adelaide:
Lose: Griffin
Gain: 3rd round pick
Freo then trade Carr and on-trade 2nd round pick to Port for Krakouer. . .

Obviously being a Fremantle supporter I prefer Warnock, but Griffin would have a value very much similar to Warnock. Plus the fact that Griffin is still contracted to Adelaide, it would need a lot more than a 3rd rounder for the Crows to give him up.
