Toast Messages to Ryder

Hi guys.

I hope it's ok to make this thread.

I thought it would be a good idea to us to send a few words of thanks and encouragement to Paddy Ryder. I have a contact at the club who is happy to pass along the messages in 24 hours. I think this could be a good way to ensure the big fella knows just how much he and his efforts mean to us. Small gesture but it could change his week.

I will collate the messages and send through within 24 hours.

Wolf pup my nickname from my girlfriend is lone wolf so we are forum related :) Thanks very much for this page and hope it shows Paddy what he has meant to our club.

Paddy you have been a true Indigenous warrior and you have brought the spirit of your immaculate people to this club. ( irony in the word immaculate noted)

My understanding is you are a godfather figure to the Indigenous boys in the comp—both from from your cultural heritage and your own standing in the community.

Basically your performance last night won us a final.

Your performances through the year got us to finals.

Whatever happens next week is irrelevant as next week only exists because of you.

I am so proud as a black man and as a STKFC supporter to have you as part of our club.

In hindsight it seems inevitable that you as the godfather would join us as we have a rich Indigenous legacy at our club—Winmar the Great, Muir, Pickett, Jeffrey McAdam, now Hill et al— that you are helping embed.

So I just wanted to say thank you brother.

I love you as a black brother.
I love you as a Saint brother.
I love you as a man who stood up for his people.

Heal well, see you in warrior stance next year.

Christopher.

We owe you for that win mate! Without you this season and particularly last night, we wouldn't be playing our second final in nearly a decade. Speedy recovery Champ!

Dear Paddy,

I can’t thank you enough for your amazing game that, in the end won us the elimination final. What’s haven’t met you but you seem like an amazing human being and am grateful that you have come to us in 2020. Your injury has taken the gloss off the win, but it would never have been a win without you. All I can say is thank you. A saints finals win after 10+ years means so much. I know many saints people who have passed away in the last decade and a win like that would have meant so much and that’s what it is all about. My best mate is a bomber and he speaks so highly of you and I see you as an amazing person and a beautiful soul. To sit with my wife and kids ( both girls under 10) and have them share that win and keep me calm when it’s not and then tell me you were the best player Means everything to me. Thanks Paddy. It’s so cruel but thanks, we wouldn’t be here without you

Paddy,

It was bittersweet watching the win on Saturday knowing that you wouldn't continue to stun us all with your heart and your skill. You are the biggest reason we won and I hope, even though you can't help in game anymore this season, that you enjoyed your first finals win; and I especially hope we see you next year for another run at a Premiership!

Thanks Paddy. Get well soon.

Dear Paddy,
Thank-you for your incredible season.
You have made us a better club on and off the field, and I will always be grateful that you chose you come to us.
It is heartbreaking knowing you won't be out there this week, but there is no doubt you will still be doing everything you can off the field to help out the boys.
Wishing you all the best with your recovery.
And I cant wait to see you dominate again next year.

Dear Paddy,

You have been a shining light for us this year and a barometer of our success in 2020. When you play well invariably the team lifts alongside you. Your deft tapwork and goal sense has added a new dimension to our style of play this year and our midfield are lucky to have your craft at centre bounces and throw ins. After your heartbreaking injury yesterday you even found time to speak to your opponent after the game and wish him well. That was pure class on your behalf and your teammates are lucky to have you in their side. Along with every Saints supporter we wish you a speedy recovery and look forward to your future involvement with our club. You have made an indelible impression on our club in such a short time and we are proud to have you represent us.

Hey Paddy,

Thank you for all your hard work and sacrifice you've put into this year. All us saints supporters truly appreciate what you have bought to our club.

I watched the game on Saturday with the family, and for the first time my eldest really got into the game. Your efforts (as many others have said) got us across the line and in our little world, gave myself and my boy an incredible moment together. So thank you.

I asked him what he wanted to tell you when I said I was sending this message and he said.... He loves you and he hopes you feel better soon!!!

Can't wait to see you running around next year in the RW&B, have a great off season, and thanks again!

Paddy has gone into St Kilda folklore for his great performance yesterday. Not just for the high quality of his play, but the passion and commitment he has shown. The tears at the end will be remembered by Saints fans for a long time. We love our players to feel the way we do.

Congrats Paddy on a great season. Come back next season and show us again your great talent.

hopefully this hasn't been sent through yet and i've made it in time

Paddy thank you for coming to our club and everything you put into this season, cumulating in the amazing game you produced on the weekend to give us our first final win since 2010. You have given saint's supporters so much joy and we are devastated you won't be out there again this season, but we are happy knowing we get to see you run out in 2021. All the best for your surgey and rehab and we wait till 2021!!!!

Paddy, you've been an absolute warrior who gave his all for our jumper in 2020. Like others I wasn't certain at the start of the year but I'm glad you have proven me and many of fellow Saints supporters wrong. You have become such an integral part of our club in under 1yr and I thank you greatly for all your efforts this year. I'm sure you will come back stronger next year. All the best mate..

Wanted you at our club 10 years ago. Had to wait a decade but worth it.

The quality of your play, your leadership and the value you bring to Rohan Marshall and our midfield with your experience and tap work has been a revelation.

Your game on Saturday was the best I have seen from a Saint in a final in my 40 years as Saints supporter and that includes Plugger, Robert Harvey, Nick Riewoldt and Lenny Hayes.

Rehab well mate and come back bigger and better next season.

Thanks Paddy, for your tremendous year at the Saints. Your'e athletic leap for your'e size , is a wonder to behold. I hope the boy's can use you as inspiration, to get our second premiership & that you come back next year & hold the cup in our third. Chin up, your'e a champion of the AFL & much loved for not only your footy nous, but for your friendly & supporting nature. Go you Saints!

My optimism for winning against Richmond went out the door the second you went down Padawan such is your influence on the ground. You have been enormous this year and your professionalism in the first final to lift the side to a win will be sorely missed. Hope you can go another three years!

I don't know what will be missed more, your presence as a senior player or your obvious passion and desire to make a difference. Both have been a big part of getting where we are now. If we manage to do without you on the ground this week it will partly be due to what you've given by example.

Paddy, your performances this season but especially on Saturday have written you into our Saints hearts forever.
Rest up, get well & enjoy watching the game against the Tigers which you made happen big fella.
Catch you next season brother.

Mate, what an absolute legend who I will 100% admit to underestimating what you would bring to the club and your team-mates.

In a few short months you have instilled some A grade culture and played even better football.

On top of not only dragging us into, but also winning our first final in a decade… it is clear that you are a great person and excellent mentor to have around young impressionable blokes.

I hope you have another 3-4 years in the game with us.

Get well legend, can't wait to see your passion in action next year.
