Hibberd would be easily best 22 at Essendon as he will be at Melbourne. Pick 26 is unders for him, but can't imagine we'll get much else

You got severe overs for Melksham so the deals are fairly even. Pick 26 isn't that far under you got Merrett at that range.

Trading isn't a zero sum game, what we got for Melksham last year has no affect on what we get for Hibberd. If anything, it sets the bar.

Classic troll. I didn't say he was shit. Not at any point. You did though. You started off by saying he is worth less than a second rounder. I said there are younger blokes in the side that can play his position. I don't want the guy to leave it's just obvious why he is.
In regards to him leaving. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Hes a best 22 player and isnt being squeezed out by younger players like youve tried to say. Hes leaving because of what the club has put him though. Seeking a fresh start at the dees with a former coach and player that also know what hes been through and help him transition with new team mates.

Clubs are rarely stupid two years straight. Pick 26 this year is more than fair. He isn't worth much more than that.

Essendon always gets the deal done.

Let's see how Port go with Hartlett.
Your definition of the term ALWAYS is fairly different to mine.
Last off-season they did a great job of getting the deals done that they wanted. Prior to that, not so much.
C'mon Bunk, I expect more from you
Season 4 Ep. 11 - "The Bunk is strictly a suit-and-tie motherf#@*er."

Being pushed out of best 22 doesn't mean you don't get a game. Is there something wrong with you?
Why would a bloke that has finished top 5 and top 10 in the b&f in his last 2 seasons be pushed out of the 22? Especially one in the prime years of his career. Unless you meant pushed out in the future, in which case that applies to almost every player on every list at some stage.

Competition for spots at Essendon isn't like Hawthron during the 3 peat, it isn't one of the strongest 8/10 lists in the league. If he is decent (he is) and healthy, he gets a game every single week. What more opportunity does he need? As far as I know he would still be your best rebounding defender, is there someone that I have missed? You are surely aware there are more reasons for being traded than being angry at a club or wanting more opportunities.

Absolutely. A clear mindset being one of those.

The way I see Essendon at the moment is in rebuild mode. Hartley has been discovered this year, Gleeson will be great once he bulks up, Hurley also returns and Francis will be something special as long as he gets his body right. All of these blokes have a higher potential ceiling than Hibberd as he's already in his prime years. Essendon will also be looking at having a huge draft this year. My biggest mistake in this thread was probably assuming Melbourne are any different.

You've said he just wants a fresh start, now you're saying it's because he's angry at the club for jabbing him. Now you're accusing me of flip flopping
You are wrong. Piggy is leaving because Melbourne offered a 4 year contract on more money per year than Essendon offered over 2 years.

He was always best 22 at Essendon and he is not pissed off at the club (the injection crap is just that crap)

Where are you getting your information?

I'm not sure you've quoted the correct post there. All you've said is that he was given more opportunity (two whole years of it) by Melbourne which proves one of my points.

So are Dees fans happy with pick 26 for Hibberd?
Gave up 25 last year for Melksham, would like more than 26, but when a player nominates a club the buyer usually does well.

No. I seriously doubt 26 by itself will be on the table for Hibberd. Different draft this year and the Melksham trade is of no relevance.

I have a feeling we are going to be marginally tougher this year than last year ... last year it suited us to get the deal over and done with quickly we had bigger fish to fry ie securing Oliver & Weeds via a Gold Coast Deal.
