Re: Milburn's bump

From what I've seen of the vision, it was a fair bump and Cornes' nose collided with the side of Milburn's head. If that's the case, how would the MRP treat it, especially since the intended collision was legal (like Harbrow) but accidental head clash occured.

Re: Milburn's bump

Should suspend Cornes for getting Milburn in the head!. While that may not be a serious statement, the fact it was a head-head clash rather than an arm or other body part, which should mitigate things somewhat.

Re: Milburn's bump

1st up... well played guys... totally out played us today. Not only looked like men against boys, but you showed just how good your foot/hand skills are. You constantly found and hit targets with ease... whilst we (even with no pressure) missed ours by some way.

2nd... as for Milburn... I think he might be in trouble but who knows in the MRP Lotto. I am all for hard physical footy, but that was an old fashioned late shirtfront... after disposal and not playing the ball. Don't think the incidental head contact (and broken nose) is much of an issue... more the intent, lateness, and unsuspecting contact/bump into the middle of his chest.

3rd... Milburn's bump/tackle on Boak was a beauty. Boak unfortunately 'set up' by a poor handball (see point 1 above) and Miburn hit him perfectly in the mid section. Good to see Boak cop it and run it off.

As for Cornes coming off the ground... surely players safety must ALWAYS come first. Granted, people at the ground couldn't see it, but his nose was literially spread across his face. Never had a broken nose before but I can imagine there would be an element of risk in choking on the bleeding.

Good luck next week guys.

Re: Milburn's bump

While the MRP is a lottery these days, the actual bumped look legit.

Looking at the replay Cornes copped his broken schnoz from head to head contact. It seems Dasher's noggin is just harder than Chad's. So I reckon Dasher will be sweet, as contact was fair, or any high contact was accidental

Re: Milburn's bump

I'm more worried about Stevie J's trip to be honest. I'm sure it was accidental but the replays looked shocking.

Milburn's was looked at, no action taken. I think Johnson can accept a reprimand.

Correct decision for Dash, lucky for Dog.

Despite David Schwartz' shrill Helen Lovejoy impression and obvious desire to put Dash in and see him get as many weeks as possible, it was actually a pretty good, solid hit.

It wasn't overly late, the only high contact was a head clash after the fact and you'd be crazy (or David Schwartz) to honestly suggest that Cornes shouldn't be expecting contact.

Mackie could do with a refresher course in the 2's.

Mackie could do with a week's rest, rather than a week in the VFL.

  • Steve Johnson can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.
  • Contact to Kane Cornes by Corey Enright was assessed. The panel said that given the vision available, it could not determine as to whether the player was bumped to the ground, or fell to the ground. No further action was taken.
  • Contact between Darren Milburn and Chad Cornes from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. The panel said that Cornes could reasonably expect contact in the passage of play and, in all of the circumstances outlined, the head clash was deemed to be incidental contact and Milburn’s actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances. No further action was taken.

In the new footy rites there needs to be a rule that ALL collisions can only be replayed at full speed. Whilst acts of skill can be shown in slo mo.

It's getting crazy. No way was Milburns bump a suspension.
On slo mo you could give him 3 if you wanted.

Milburn's was fine. He didn't target him to clean him up, and the head contact was unfortunate but accidental.

Johnson is probably lucky to only get a reprimand.

I do have to concur about the criticism of Mackie. He wasn't as crap yesterday as in the first 3 weeks, but he still goes to ground when he doesn't have to, which infuriates me. He'd want to be very nervous if Scarlo is back this week.

The Ox recanted tonight on radio, although he was a bit ambiguous still.

Someone employs him on the radio too? Dear God.

Yes, SEN. How the hell someone who can barely string two words together can have a daily radio show in drive time has me completely astounded. What's next, The Damian Monkhorst Hour?

Can't believe the stupidity of certain Cats supporters saying Milburn will get weeks..

I didn't think he'd get weeks but given the lottery that is the current system I wouldn't criticise anyone who did. None of the journos, coaches, players or administrators can identify comperhensively where the line lies after all, and they are full time.
