I just saw on the Fox website that Matt Lloyd believes that ex-Bomber small forward Tippa could be making a comeback and doing it with Freo. That’d be interesting. No cost so why not I guess.

Fremantle could be in the mix to lure former Essendon goal-sneak Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti out of a brief retirement to play next season.
The 126-game Bomber reportedly held an informal meeting with Dockers coach Justin Longmuir at Perth’s Trigg Beach last month and could be offered a train-on spot after next month’s draft.
Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd flagged McDonald-Tipungwuti, 29, was considering a shock comeback, after the club’s Crichton Medal ceremony on Monday night, which he attended.

Lloyd believes the Dockers and the Bombers would be at the front of the queue, should he decide to return.

“He is contemplating a return back to football to play AFL next year,” he said.

“Essendon is very keen for him to re-join Essendon, but leading the race to have Anthony next year are the Fremantle Dockers.

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti is considering a move to Western Australia to play for Fremantle if he does decide he’s going to put the work in and play AFL football again.
McDonald-Tipungwuti cited personal reasons for his retirement in May, which was revealed during a teary speech to Essendon players mid-season.

He didn’t make an appearance for the Bombers this season, but missed only two games in 2021.

“I have come to the stage where my heart is telling me it is the right decision to make,” he told the players in May

“Even though it is sad I am happy within myself to come to a decision where it is time for me to move on from football.”

The cult figure first landed at the Bombers in the wake of the club’s crippling supplement saga as a top-up player for the 2016 season.

It is believed he has a close relationship with club captain Dyson Heppell, who shunned other offers to re-sign at the club for next season.

Fremantle already boast a plethora of small forwards, including veteran Michael Walters, top-10 pick Liam Henry and highly rated pressure players Sam Switkowski, Lachie Schultz and Michael Frederick, but will have be looking to fill a wing vacancy left by the departure of Blake Acres.

The deal for Acres to join Carlton, which is likely to be worth a future third-round draft pick, is expected to be completed today.

They are also bracing for a host of expected departures during the ongoing trade period, with list manager David Walls on Monday saying they expect Darcy Tucker and Griffin Logue to land at North Melbourne.

“Both both the Bombers would like him to play and Fremantle leading the race currently.”

OMFG

This could be one of the best or worst trades in Dockers history

One of the best players in modern AFL but has drug issues

Genuinely excited but crapping it at the same time
So Freo 🙄

Where has this drug issue talk come from?
Look back at some of the footy talk when he announced his retirement , I can’t pinpoint who or when I just recall hearing and reading it .

I was shocked at the time , never would have picked him for that, but it kind of made sense looking back at his drop in performance.
It will pop up again I’m sure

Yep, he said at the start of today’s Duff and Quarters podcast- taking voluntary redundancy?
Looking forward to new challenges….

He’s is heads and shoulders above anyone else! Integrity, knowledge, experience, and a Freo supporter. I can think of lots of others who are "redundant" over Duff. I wish him the absolute best in wherever the Darken shearer ends up. Thanks for so much great insight over the years, Duff!!

It'll be interesting to see what happens with the currently Sunny Sharpy. I thought he was far from impressive in the Champs during his year. I didn't like his lack of appetite for a contested possession or his penchant for giving others a spray whilst waiting on them to get him the pill. I only saw those U18 Champs games of him though, no colts or anything else so its the very definition of the small sample size.

Since then I haven't seen him play for the Suns. I did see a few stat lines of his that looked impressive on first pass but they can be fools gold so it'll be interesting see what sort of player he's become now if we get hold of him. He does seem a good fit and, as with all trades, whether he's a good get will depend on the price. I can't see them letting him go for anything other than a 2nd rounder and maybe even one that's close to the late 20's pick I think he was. I know we won't be giving up a first because we won't have any so that's a comfort.

Anyone here seen him go round for the Suns and have an idea of how he goes about it now?

This is very exciting...would love to cheer for Anthony in purple!
Already loved him while a bomber...yuk.

In 2021 I was at the game at marvel surrounded by flog Essendon fans when he almost single-handedly dismantled us. He was unbelievable that day, every time the ball was in his hands the stadium was on a knife edge, wondering what he was going to produce.
At his best he is different class to any of our existing small forwards. Would be comparable to prime Michael Walters in terms of his impact on the game.

I saw him kick a few against North at Marvel, including the winner. He's a gun.

His ability to run from offscreen to nail a player seemingly about to get clear was one of my favourite footy things not Freo related.

How can you not like the bloke

He's so hard at it on the field yet seems so humble and reserved off it.

I just hope he can regain match fitness at the same intensity and Freo can work something out.

The AFL always get deals done in the best interest of the afl surely this is one of those times
