after his ACL he stays and signs a new contract for another 3 years
He is not going home, he will do his rehab in Adelaide.
I reckon it will be for two years, Max King amd others are playing again after their ACL.

A silver lining is, after a knee injury it is less stress and best to resume in defence.

I'm not sure why he would want to stay somewhere where he is not considered best 22 and there will be better offers to go home

Time will tell though

Waterman is much better in every way to Mitch and couldn't play both in the same side.
So for me if i was WCE drop out of trading for him let Freo go after him or let him stay at Port

The same waterman that’s never finished with more 18 goals in a season despite being more than 2 years older than Mitch?

This is a hilariously odd point to try and make.

Pickett is a star. Giorgiades is a reserves footballer. There's no comparing them. It's like if Brad Pitt and I both turned up on Bumble.

If he wants to go to Port, he'll get to Port. You'd think Melbourne would be hoping Georgiades goes for 10 first rounders. Melbourne supporters should be hoping we have a fistful of picks to offer them if the time comes otherwise they'll get Dawson'd.

Dawson end up being pick 14 as Melbourne didn't finish as high as expected so ended up a fair trade at that time but well unders consider how he has developed in the 2 years at the Crows. Anyway, there's report Pickett is about to sign a new 4 years deal with Melbourne so a muted discussion.

A player who cannot get consistently in Port’s first team that has a long track record of injury and has previously stated he is not feeling the love at Port and wants to go home just does an ACL.

Recovering from an ACL is tough and rehab can be very lonely. What sort of coin would Port be offering him? I suggest something very modest.

I am not sure I want Mitch but would offer a future 3rd rounder. Bargaining power - Eagles will hold either pick 1 or pick 2 in the pre season draft.

I would love the deal - not because I really want Georgiades but for karma on the Ebert trade

I think if he doesn't lose too much agility or speed he could still make a good backman.

But depending on the severity of the ACL he's either out till at the very least the start of next year and likely with a full training block and match fitness in a second tier league around the bye next year.

If semi decent money is offered and a 3 year deal by either the dockers or west coast you'd think he's out the door. The dockers will likely see him as a good cheap forward target but I think his future is in defence being able to play tall or small with a bit more development.

His worth right now as much as Port supporters wish otherwise is a 3rd round pick. at the end of 2021 was a pick between 10-20, at the end of last year it was probably again around 20. Spends 4 weeks in the SANFL and looks pretty shit against an U18's side in the sanfl and then does a knee and is out of contract, thats a third rounder or PSD.

Dockers are campaigners to deal with and after Rioli, Lycett and Ebert it's not like West Coast are going to rock up with the mutual respect we have at the trade table with clubs like the Swans, Brisbane or the Suns.

Dockers sure as sunlight aren't going to be offering their top pick this year which is Norths round 2/priority round 2 so the best they offer is North's priority/Nominal round 3 (I can't be bothered to check which one they have)

West Coast can't trade you back your own second or third rounder and won't be offering up our first or second which means the highest offer you'd get from a WA team is either WCE nominal 3rd or a future third.

If Hinkley stays I think Mitch goes. Ports best bet would be a Melbourne team with an underwhelming forward line taking a bigger punt.

It's been a rough month or 2 for him I hope Geelong ask his manager if he's looking for a fresh start. We were very keen on him at the draft and he clearly has a lot of talent. I think the gamble is worth a future 2nd and I can't see Port forcing him to the PSD after they drop him and he does an ACL.
At 191-192cm, is another 'third tall' type really what we need? We've got Ollie Henry and even blokes like Knevitt (193cm) who could potentially fill that role going forward

A potential Hawkins replacement or at the very least a backup for Neale is probably a more urgent need IMHO.

Yep. Amazing what opportunity can uncover.

Jake has been biding his time and needed Kennedy to retire before getting it. He's a better forward leading out of the square.

Also helps when the forwards start getting more inside 50s and the game plan is now move the ball forward quickly.

Given the acl and being dropped to play this year in the sanfl, a late 2nd round pick gets this done. Your paying to rehab him for 2025 and the potential that he's better than what port think he is, they think he's an sanfl player.

Why, because he's a young developing key forward who's had an occasional run in the 2's, especially when there is competition for his spot? Across his career he's played a total of 7 games in the SANFL vs 49 AFL games.

For comparison sake, to the same point in his career Darcy Fogarty had played almost 30 games in the reserves and something like 26 AFL games for less goals (at AFL level) then Georgiadies managed in his second year alone.

To suggest this means Port consider him a "SANFL player" is simply moronic.

Clubs are trading for their current development, had Fogarty been traded at that time we wouldn't even get a 3rd rounder for him. Similarly had Georgiadias been traded a few years ago, he would have more than likely gotten a top 10 pick but now especially with an ACL.......

And the only reason he’s in the sanfl is hinkley thinks (wrongly) that it is the way to fix his kicking yips.

It’s an attempt to get him some confidence in his kicking back and then bring him back into the side.

No one thinks he’s behind finlayson as a talent.

I rate Georgiades but the facts are he wasn't getting a regular game this year.

Plus he's out of contract and has done an ACL.

I can't see a club ponying up a 2nd rounder for him.

Made a horrid decision to stay at Port and not force a move to the Eagles if you ask me.

Port Adelaide traded in his direct replacement and he just stayed and took it.

If he moved he would have a payrise and a starting spot week in week out at Eagles. Ships sailed on that one and just signs back on with Port I think

Not sure why Collingwood would be keen unless they are looking at replacing Mihocek in the coming years?

He's a bit undersized as a key forward. Modern defenders are now getting beyond 200cm in height.
