Most Disgraceful Umpiring Performance I have EVER seen

I’m in disbelief here, just when I thought the standard of umpiring couldn’t get any worse, it does. Tonight’s Adelaide v St.Kilda game was undoubtedly the worst display of umpiring I have seen.

Tippett getting held in the goal square, free kick to the opposition. van Berlo taken around the neck, no free. 50 metre penalty against van Berlo when attempting trying to spoil the ball he accidentally clipped his head. 50 metre penalty against Thompson for overstepping the mark when a minute later Fisher did the exact same thing for no penalty.

I could point out a dozen more poor decisions but for now that’s all I can handle. Every time a poor decision was made I thought things couldn't get worse yet to my amazement, the standard kept decreasing.

agree with you 100% drummond... a saints player (cant remember the player)stepped over the mark again in the final quarter too, was near the forward flank and the umpire didnt call it! then there were 2 times the ump found a soft free kick out of the centre for the saints just as we were about to make a clearance! absolutely disgraceful effort by the umpires...

on another note... just think, take away the 2 9 pointers and make them just 6 pointers (how they would have been in a normal home and away game) and we would have won by a point.

Not the worst ive ever seen but it was very very poor.. I remember those incidents all very clearly, the 1st 50m penalty in the series of 2 was ridiculous.. Tippett was being held all night but that one in the square was shocking when he was being held, was right in front of me..

I'd also like to mention the after disposal free kick to doughty was a shocking decision, the saints player tried pulling out of it..

I agree re: dodgy free kick against Thompson and the subdequent misses for against Burton (twice a think).

But the Tippet thing was plain wrong, i think the Saints worked out they were not going to get pinged for it so they just held him when the ball came forward.

Right on brothers. We lost agianst the saints last week because of the umpires. 37-24 free kicks there way and that free kick agianst monfries in the dieing seconds which lost us the game AHAHA. unreal

dont worry about the loss today, only a practice match

When Goody nearly got his head ripped off and didn't get a free and the umpire got theatrical I was about to jump the fence expecting him to call holding the ball. In the end watching the replay, the in the back wasn't there imo.

And then there was the time the a Saints player kicked it backwards across his defensive fifty and it was a paid a mark.

On the fifties, I thought the Thompson one was probably there but the VB one was a joke.

who gives a shit you hvae been playing some good footy in the NAB cup and you will probably continue it throughout the year and you should be playing some finals footy.

Thompson's was there, no doubt about it. But what made it worse, was no more than 2 minutes later, Burton took a grab on 50, the Saints player ran in a big circle and went over the mark by a good 2 metres and was not called. would have been a certain goal.....

VB could probably have pulled his arm out and not clipped him, so its probably right

Just finished watching the game here and a bit dissapointed. Umps seemed to put the whistle away at the end and missed quite a few

And the one where the Saints player thought it was a mark, but the ump was screaming "play on, not 20" stood there like a stunned mullett and made no attempt to get it out. should have been pinged. (but in fairness, same thing happened to Shirley in the last qtr, with the same result)

Nah, that's never a free. If the player isn't aware it's play on, then they can't be caught holding the ball (as long as it's a reasonable mistake, and they don't drag it back in or whatever.)
They never pay those.

On TV it was clear as day that he hand balled mate. The ump was standing right there. Have a look at the replay and you will see it was a correct decision.

WTF??? Have you ever played the game? YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAND BALL IT TO SOMEONE, you ONLY HAVE TO ATTEMPT TO DISPOSE of it. or if you had PRIOR you have to dispose of it correctly.

Just interested; Where the hell did you get this "you have to hand ball it to someone" cr@p from ? You just have to handball or kick it anywhere you want but not deliberately out of bounds.

The free kick count was so bad last week because the bumbers tackled very very poorly and held players in the center bounces.

To be honest while I always wanted to win, at the start of the game I wasn’t really bothered with the result. But as the night wore on, and as the standard of umpiring continued to deteriorate, the more I wanted to win. I know it’s the standard line but I’m not normally one to complain about the umpiring, but after seeing the impact they had on the game tonight I felt compelled to comment. They were simply atrocious tonight.

I know it’s the standard line but I’m not normally one to complain about the umpiring, but after seeing the impact they had on the game tonight I felt compelled to comment. They were simply atrocious tonight.

Pretty much how i felt.. Wanted to win but its not even close to the want in the real season but it grew during the night due to the boogie men..

Funny, i was thinking in the last quarter imagine if it was a real grand final and we were 3 points down at the moment my bowels would have released..
