Looking at the most improved from each club, the Age reckons it's PJ -

MELBOURNE

Paul Johnson
The Demons have a lot of older types and a bundle of kids.
Colin Sylvia has kicked some goals in the past few weeks but has some way still to go.
Nathan Jones keeps getting better but, while Johnson has a way to go too, he is playing more games, more minutes and doing more in them.
The stats say: Has the best hitout-to-advantage of any of the Demons' three ruckmen.
He is in his sixth season of AFL football (he didn't play a game in 2004) and is averaging a career-high 13 disposals (previous best was nine per game last season), five marks and nine hitouts per game.
Is also averaging 25 more minutes per game.

Probably pretty close to the mark, however I am stunned to think Garland isn't even worth a mention......

Is this meaning Johnson is playing more games than he has in previous seasons, or playing more games than Nathan Jones?

Anyway, surely Garland not only deserves a mention, but deserves to be listed as the most improved; although Johnson has been very good lately Garland still has him covered for mine.

I'm thinking whoever wrote this article only has only really looked at the past few weeks. Sylvia and Johnson have been the standouts the past few weeks, and suprise suprise they got mentions whilst Garland who has been good for the majority of the year amazingly didn't.

Rightly or wrongly, I would say that they don't include Garland because his improvement is only against his rookie year last year and this would be seen as natural progression whereas both Sylvia dn Johnson have been around for a while now and are finally starting to fulfill some of their potential.

Agree with the above sentament about garland being most improved. Last year i really looked at him and thought "well done c.c another guy we have given a 3 year contract to who is goig to amount to bugger all".

He was a scrawney hang out last year who looked like a sheep grazing a paddock wondering around aimlessly. He is not only shutting down some of the best fowards in the comp but is providing run and drive out of the backline and has pretty good skills (which has really suprised me) to go with that.

But....if he was talking about more senior players or older ones who have improved then i would think warnock would be ahead of both johnson and sylvia as well.

Maybe hull or hullsy wrote this article for the age??

He will be all over this post as fast as lightning, ill give it 3 days. Just the mention or initials of paul johnson's name gives him a raging hard-on.

the main reason why i don't think Garland was mentioned is because there isn't much to base his improvement off, Johnson has several seasons as a fringe player to his name but has been able to turn it around to become a good ruckman and a versatile and important player for us around the ground. where as garland had 4 poor games to his name before really stepping up

Raging hard-on??? I get horny but thats it.

He was good in the first few games of the year before he necked himself.

What about Miller? How does he go without a mention?
Emma Quayle isn't much of a journalist.

Garland, Miller and even Green would be the first three names I would have thought of.

PJ has always been stellar, its just injuries that have stopped many people noticing him.

Do Melbourne supporters want Jeff white in the team?
honestly... no... want meesen to get his act together though... and about Paul Johnson, 100 per cent agree, the man has been a gem and like miller was played stupidly by daniher
