Brodie Grundy for mine, was a knee jerk recruitment by the Dees to soften the blow of losing Jackson.. looks good on paper but he has shown relatively little this year.

Looked amazingly good with Gawn in preseason games. I think he will end up returning for the Dees when the whips are cracking this year.

Cost them little in trade and the pies are still paying a good portion of his salary.

. I think his stats flatter him massively. Picks up a lot of empty possessions and inside 50s. What stats dont show are the number of turnovers these inside 50s generate. They also dont show the fumbles, the going to ground at crucial moments, the horrible conversion from set shots, the hack kicks and his complete lack of defensive accountability.
Most underrated would be either Trent Rivers

In terms of awards Tex Walker. Surprisingly never been an AA and he’s talked about as one of the best forwards in the history of his club.

In general pub talk and media it has to be Pendles. The media never mention his mistakes and every hand ball is lauded as one of the best handballs in the history of the game. Never really been an X factor either, longevity pretty much the only thing going for him.

His recent finals campaign was brilliant.

Genuinely think a chunk of the Dogs mids - all of Daniel, Smith, Macrae & even Treloar are over users of the ball, get bigger stats than their influence. While the other 3 can be damaging by foot, Smith is way more miss than hit.

Each of them is a good player don’t get me wrong, but where are the Adams/Crisp types who are sacrificing stats for role? Much more stats focused. All very good, but also all get overrated. I mean Macrae AA last year, hell even over Libba.

They constantly win 25+ each and are yet no more than mid range on the table. Smith has hit something like 2 targets from 40+ inside 50s this year.

. Josh Ward. Basically, the same type of player: completely vanilla, yet lauded like their running power translates to anything actually useful (more like headless chooks). Hard-running mids/flankers that offer little else are currently so overrated. It’s like teams trying for tall midfielders who aren’t actually any good in a weak attempt to have their own Pendlebury or Fyfe or Tuck, instead they get Nashes.
