Mumford ....should be called for blocking at every ruck contest - he doesn't jump at the ball

Hahaha nice try mate. I don't like the way Shuey tends to duck his head, but quite a lot of his frees are from being first to the ball and going hard at the contest. If a guy that racked up 38 disposals, 23 contested, 13 clearances & 6 tackles today is soft, then **** me sideways. Not to mention 84.2% DE & 2 goals. Played an incredible game today and was a clear BOG. Get your head out of your ass.
Review the GF.

When the heats on he goes to water. Soft.

Luke Shuey should really learn how to win his own ball instead of duck for cheap frees every week, but it's never gonna happen.

Every team has players with cheap tactics that they continue to get away with as long as the umpires are too incompetent to call it out. It happens.

I didn't realise you could win 23 contested possessions for ducking your head! I don't like the way the can tend to lower his body to look for a free kick, but he not only racked up 38 disposals, of which 23 were contested, he had 13 clearances and 6 tackles. I'm pretty sure it's already happened mate.

We've been through the Shuey raising of the arm issue and you've all been found wanting. Don't need to school another batch of greenhorns. He doesn't tunnel with his head, rarely ever does a double movement.

Plays the game fast and hard. Get over it.

Didn't shuey have the most clearances in the game ?
Isnt that winning his own ball ?

Look that was a day to forget for the boys, bar one or two, no one stood up, it was a team thing. The heat has been on multiple times this year, in particular this afternoon, and he stood up and delivered an elite performance under immense pressure. You can't cite one game and forget the rest. He has had a tendency to go quiet in previous years, but this year he has been consistent and stood up when it counts

Yep. Shuey can't win a contest unless there's high contact involved.

There's a reason he goes missing in finals - the frees he gets in regular season don't get paid.

Because he lacks friends and players of similar capacity at WC. Next.

He just got 12 or 13 clearances and was BOG against what is likely the most talented midfield in the game. Was so easily BOG it's not even worth bothering with this shite.

Up front, love the way Mumford plays.

But it is not only the blocking that should be at issue but after 1/2 time at many of the boundary throw-ins, he was simply running behind Nic Nat with no intention of attempting a hit out but rather to push him before he could leap for the tap.

If you not attempting to hit he ball then its a free kick.

Yeah it's such an odd thing to say - it's the same with guys like Joel Selwood or Anthony Miles. Sure they might cop it for their tactics, but they sure as hell aren't soft.

(not withstanding that Shuey actually got one of those frees for winning the ball on the ground...we surely aren't discouraging players picking the ball up off the ground!)

He was making no attempt to get the ball
