Rucks are fked this year, its all a lottery haha

Rucks are ****ed every year. Stef and Goldy were two of the absolute best players (not rucks, players) in 2015 and in 2016 both averaged less than 100.

42k left over

have at it lads

Getting excited by the 'Westhoff to wing' talk there m8? ;) They say that every year and it never ends up happening.

If you can afford it, I'd go Higgins to Roughead/Nank (probably Nank, no point having a dud like Strnadica on your bench if you're not going to use his DPP) and Westy to Macrae. It's cookie cutter, but there's a reason everyone is picking those guys.

I'd go Marc Murphy over Watson at the same price if I was picking an underpriced premium mid. But I'm not picking either. Spend the extra 36k and get Beams, way more upside.

Good looking team but the rucks are woeful. Also I think your forward line is to stacked, 1 for upgrades and secondly I think that fielding 2 of Eddy/Parfitt/Picket/Miles/etc... would give you a lot better structure. It seems like you are picking your finished forward line bar maybe one player. Ryder is not an R2 so that means you plan to have him at F7?. That means Roughy & Steele are in your finished forward line and 1 position available. (Unless Steele goes to M9). Just seems you dont have a lot of room to move with your forward structure throughout the season.
Grundy is the premo ruck I'm safest on at the moment

If I change rucks and go lighter up forward then I'd probably have McCarthy as a F5/6 then and dump Smith.

Would probably try and upgrade Macrae to NRoo then as I feel NRoo will start strong again with his Etihad draw up to the r11 bye

Personally Smith is who I would dump too. Would go Taranto over Mcarthy personally for a 200K+ player. I have neither at the moment (nor smith). Though I have invested in my midfield/defence a lot more heavily. most would think that my forward line is really weak but I feel that is where the rookies are this year and it is the position I can't guess the top 6.

I feel a Ryder/Nankervis has more value then Sandi due to his age and the fact that they are dual position players. I am personally rocking Grundy & Nankervis in the rucks as Grundy I feel is the safest premo to be top 2.

Edit: I have changed my teams a few times but I am almost happy with my line up

I like it alot i can't bring myself to pick Crouch bkos of last year :(
and im just not a fan of Swallow i don't see him putting up a good avg but that could easily be proven wrong
Crouch killed it from Round 11 onwards last year, seemed like Thompson went downhill a bit once Crouch started pumping out solid scores as he probably started getting more midfield minutes (9 100s, 4 80s and a 75 IIRC he got from R11 to SF). Even when he was just a rotation mid earlier in the season he got something like 6 80s and 2 60s.

I really like his scoring habits

I don't think Nankervis will average more than Ryder, Steele or Roughy though. So I'm less tempted to pick him, whereas I'm picking Sandi as a cash cow then dumping him once he's made enough (or gets injured :()

Can see Nank averaging about 70-80 FWIW, plenty of 60-90 type scores. Ryder is a Naitanui type of scorer imo (75-90)

Ryder has the early bye so I think you can start him forward with a rck/fwd at R3 but it kills your hand with trading. The good think with Nankervis he is a surer thing. A stepping stone to a premo. A 34 year old Sandi has to many concerns for me in RDT.

I feel 366k is too expensive to use then dump though, but Roughy could hang around the 450-500k mark and be a sideways type

Not sure if Nank will make 80k+ though, imo he'll hang around the 380-420 range

Each to their own though

Dean Cox, what a champion

Pick him and you know you're safe as houses getting a guaranteed 95 average
I still remember the first year I played DT (2005) I'm pretty sure you had 3 on field ruckmen
Cox + Lade + Fraser was a golden trio
Cox was also a walk up captain back in those days, when the best players in the comp averaged 95

In 2007 Jimmy Bartel averaged 115 and it was completely unheard of. Nobody thought at the time we would see another player come close to that :D

I think Crouch goes big this year and it will be a breakout year for him in regards to dream team. Will pump out solid 100 after 100.

Yeah, had a look through the stats a while back, Ben Cousins was only a 90-95avg type even when at the top of his game.

Scotty West probably similar (he had a high handball to kick ratio too). I'd imagine mark and tackle numbers would've been lower among mids back then.

Apparently Joel Bowden was a stud back then with the mark and chip it around game Plough had around 2005-06.

Joel Bowden and a young Dane Swan were the best backline players back when I started (Ben Johnson from the magpies too).
Daniel Cross was actually more elite than Scott West due to his tackling.
Kane Cornes was the best DT player though (his brother not too far behind) averaging 105.

Apologies for derailing the thread with DT Nostalgia

Don't apologise at all, I freakin' love it!
