Senior List
All of the Telstra dome games will be appearing on Foxtel.
That's good. I think we'd all rather watch the junior footy instead of the junior rugby league that they show on Fox Sports.

why do WA come into the comp later than anyone else
Luke Shuey seemed to have a pretty good one for Metro. Jack Watts kicked the winning goal with about 3 seconds left, he took some great marks throughout the game. Can't remember his name, but number 17 for Country was very lively up forward.
Matt Burgan said:VICTORIA Metropolitan has pulled off a stunning three-point victory over arch-rival Victoria Country in the opening match of the first round of the NAB AFL under 18 championships.
Metro 12.4 (76) defeated Country 11.7 (73) in the curtain-raiser to the Melbourne and Hawthorn clash at the MCG, after Jack Watts, who booted four goals, kicked the match-winner just before the final siren sounded.
Yet at the 17-minute mark of the last quarter (all terms are 20 minutes with no time-on), Vic Country looked set to overcome the city slickers, having trailed at every other change, when Tom Rockliff jagged his fourth for the match.
It was fitting Watts and Rockliff stood up for their respective sides in the latter stages, as they were super for their respective side's best. Watts also finished with eight marks, including four contested, as Rockliff finished with a game-high 11 contested possessions.
Vic Country's Nick Suban, an under-18 All-Australian last year, had 25 disposals - the most for the match - and was also superb. Teammate Nic Heyne, who took a cracking one-handed 'speccy' up forward in the final term, finished with 19 touches and two goals.
Shaun McKernan, the younger brother of dual North Melbourne premiership player Corey, impressed for Vic Metro with 11 disposals and 13 hit outs. And Michael Hurley, an under-18 All-Australian defender last year, continued to impress down back.
Vic Country 2.2 4.3 8.5 11.7 (73)

Round one (match one) played at MCG
You were right the first time, 3rd leading possession winner for Metro and a goal.Maybe Shuey didn't do as much as I thought...

anybody else see trengrove's courageous mark in the 2nd (iirc?) ran back with the flight and got squashed by the pack but hung onto it.. was very very good
spot on champ trengOve was gusty.
anyone no how tom lynch went?
I think they're the best as picked by Matt Burgan. I've never been a fan of his 'best players', I think they're very different to what I see in a game.mate i must be have been on drugs or was watching another match today as it seems that unless you are the son or related to an ex afl player you can't get in the best.
Interesting the different ways people see the game. Gotch was certainly in Metro's best few, their leading possession winner and most of them effective. Trengove's an exiting talent but who was he playing on and how many goals did he kick? Was it Will Young who snagged three? And I have to say your analysis of Hurleys game was shocking in itself. Maybe its just me but he reminds of a under 18 version of Chris Langford and he didn't give his opponents a sniff and saved several goals.mate i must be have been on drugs or was watching another match today as it seems that unless you are the son or related to an ex afl player you can't get in the best. Metro best: Watts, Zaharakis, Hurley, McKernan, Lisle, Gotch.
IMO. Lisle was well below parr and Gotch was average at best. Hurley had a shocker compared to his lofty standards, although rumour has it played with a suspected fractured wrist in second half, so super effort on his behalf. Mckernan (who should not be continually be referred to as the brother of, as he is his own person & player) and Watts were fantastic. Trengove at CHB had three players rotating on him all day, received a really heavy knock to his back at start of the 2nd quarter and played the remaining of game injured and still had his 3 opponents kept to less than six kicks between them. Did the real hard work all day and is unrewarded if not in best I think. He also saved the day with an enormous tackle on hbf which turned the ball over enabling Watts winning goal. And what a goal it was. (Should have waited until after the siren though to build the tension a bit more ) but well done. he has got some talent. Zakarakis was another who imo was average. Maybe as he was in best as he was captain. Great player, but not today. Shuey is also stiff not to get a mention, I thought is was huge all day. The one that amazed me was Tyrone Vickery. he was bloody fanstatic in the ruck and played very well. Cannot believe he did not get metioned. Not in the "coaches favourites" i guess. I actually thought the whole metro team actually looked tired, slow and flat. maybe those hotel beds are not that comfortable hey! Anyway it is only my opinion and I am sure others will agree and disagree and that is why this game is the best. Everyone can have an opinion.
