NAB Cup: Port Adelaide vs Western Bulldogs

Funny you say this, I was ridiculed by some Dog supporters when I said Trengove appears to have or will have this ability. Supposedly noone in the AFL fear this anyone, except from Barry Hall!

Yeah I saw your Arguement, I thought Trengove should have taken Murphy, Hill would kill him for Pace, But I think Trengove, as crazy and Phycotic as the kid is, I think he comes accross as a crunch you in a contest flying for the ball or cannon into on the ground after a lead type. More of the Snyper than the Enforcer, Doesn't seem like the Big Hip n Shoulder type, Where as Matty Thomas is that Hip n Shoulder first type.

But People fear Barry for the wrong reasons, they don't fear him out of respect, they fear the Thug within him! Choppy was feared for what he could do in the spirit of the game!

However Trengove will be known as Captain Knees; Knees in the back, in the ribs, in the shoulder. I just hope he does lay someone out cold with a HUGE Hip n Shoulder. Justin Kossie in the NAB Grand Final,
(join our commentry team, Dennis Cometti, Bruce McErveiny and David Schwartz)
Bruce McErveiny - "Kossie has a bounce... He has a second"
Bruce McErveiny - "Trengove approaches to apply pressure"
Dennis Cometti - "Kossie tries to Draw Trengove"
David Schwartz - "BAMM"
Dennis Cometti - "Kossie just got stuck like a cat in the headlights"
Dennis Cometti - "With a full head of steam traveling towards Trengove he famed to give the handball, but Trengove in a manner that screamed "Don't sell me your bitter Lemmons" Pumbels in to Kossie with a Clean, Crisp, Crushing Hip n Shoulder"
Bruce McErveiny - "WOW Den, I haven't seen a hit quite like that since Pickett hung up the boots"
Dennis Cometti - "I know Bruce, he is one Mennacing Maniac this Trengove kid"
Dennis Cometti - "Too Think he is only 19!"
Bruce McEveiny - "Dennis, Kossie hasn't moved since being struck by what seemed to be an invisible freight train!"
Dennis Cometti - "I know Bruce, it was as if Kossie didn't think he had it in him or he just didn't see him Approaching there"
David Schwartz - "Guys, ahh, Do you think the Match review pannel will want to look into that? Trengove left the ground, the contact was reckless, he could have easily gone the tackle, The contact was head on and high impact!"
Bruce McErveiny - "Gee David, you really do want to take out all contact from this match dont you, the contact was not high, it was a split second decision, he didn't catch him high..."
Dennis Cometti - "Well Bruce there you have it, Umpire Steve McLarren has booked Trengove with intimidation!"
Dennis Cometti - "OHH WOW, Trengove has just thrown a uppercut to Steve McLarren's unsuspecting jaw, reminds me of watching the UFC in Sydney the other week"
David Schwartz - "Ha, James Hird says "Thank you" young Jackson"
Dennis Cometti - "David, Get out the box!"

^^^ haha that was quite funny RIT.

Do you think with Schulz out Salter may move up forward?

Pre-season I know Dry Rot, but after the way your lot dismantled us at TiO Stadium last season, I am interested to see just how far Port Adelaide has progressed against a team I consider a genuine flag fancy.

Here's hoping to a good game.

Same here, and no injuries!

#17 - Robbie Gray. Fourth year player primed to become a top-tier midfielder. Set to play his first official game of the preseason after missing with internal discipline and appendicitis.

#31 - Mitch Banner. In-and-under second year toughnut who was a ballmagnet in the TAC Cup and has backed it up with a dynamic NAB Cup thus far, registering a combined 10 contested possessions, 8 clearances, 11 tackles and 5 goals against the Crows and Eagles.

#45 - Cameron Hitchcock. Rookie-listed small forward who has been positively electrifying in his two NAB Cup games to date with 6 goals and 2 goal assists.

Krakour, Boak, P.Stewart, Gray, Banner, Hitchcock, D.Stewart

Thanks for these Port guys to watch out for. I'll return the favour:

Dunno our final team, but from the announced squad you might like to look out for:

#1 Jarryd Grant - young tall forward, taken something like #5 in the draft. Mixed opinions about him: upside quick and takes a great grab; downside his intensity has been questioned and he's still far too light bodied for AFL

#12 Tom Williams - rare public appearance from our great white hope CHB (injury plagued to date)

#19 Liam Jones - very promising young tall forward (yes, that's not a typo). Has talent, needs muscle on his frame

#23 Jordan Roughead - cousin of Jarryd, young ruckman. Has talent, needs muscle on his frame

#29 Easton Wood - usually plays across HB, good athlete. Admired by many Williamstown VFL watchers

#44 Brodie Moles - mature rookie midfielder from the Cats. Has impressed the coaching staff during his pre-season, and played well in the NAB Cup. AFL ready.

Can't wait for the game. :)

Dry Rot - whats the story with Stephen Tiller these days?

Hasn't had much luck since a quite good finals campaign in 2008. Injuries buggered his 2009 and his pre-seosn has been mucked up recovering from an operation (either shoulder reco or repaired groin - I get confused as our guys had so many ops)

His greater problem is where he can play (injuries aside). Lake is the big defender (and Williams when he gets on the park) and next size down are Morris and Hargrave - both really good defenders. And he's a different style player to Harbrow and Gilbee. So it's hard to break into the AFL team.

But his problems in 2010 don't end there - he'll be competing with tall defenders Markovic, Mulligan and the great Bourmann (insider joke for bulldog fan Comrade) in the VFL Williamstown first team.

I wish Tiller the best, he's become a bit of a forgotten player of late.

Cheers, used to play with lad back in the day, just wondering where his development was heading.

I hadn't seen any of Ports prior NAB games, so only going on what I'd seen of the Dogs, I was quietly confident for tonights clash.

Very surprised to see Ports endeavour though, very hard at it and great hands in close. Gray & Banner were two players I'd seen little of but were super impressive. And your big backman Carlile looks a 200+ game player.

Good things to come for Port followers... oh and tough luck on tonight :thumbsu:

Yeah we are very excited bout our young players comming through the ranks.

Well done to ur guys played really well last night, ive tipped u guys for the flag this year good luck.

Good luck for the 2010 season Port followers. You have a lot to look forward to with so many talented younger players who have a real go.

Your side's defensive pressure on Friday was excellent, especially considering it was a NAB cup game with a number of fringe players and rookies on the ground.

We were lucky to win and maybe didn't deserve to. See you in September!
