This is going to be the problem for most of the year unless someone steps up to be a geniune goalkicker. We will dominate general play but struggle putting a score on the board then when momentum swings we lose the lead fairly quickly.

I agree. It is a real killer.

We need to take our chances, stats might not reflect it but I think we miss too many set shots that are 'gettable.' It is partly because we haven't really had a dead eye dick for a few years and Dalh has been something of a novelty with his goal sense.

So many times we take an extra possession when a shot is the best option. Rocket had our guys playing scared footy in front of goal at times. I hope Mac fixes it.

Sounds like the difference in the third quarter and onwards is the cats speed in transition when they have the opportunity. Sounds like a bunch of their goals have been from long kicks into the geelong forward line with plenty of space, whereas our F50 entries sound a lot more congested.

Game opening up a bit as players tire I suppose, but geelong has been capitalising more than us?

Very hard to work out whats going on with the radio commentators waffling.

Underlines griffens importance with lack of footskills through the midfield from most of his teammates.

Things I like the sound of:

Picken getting a swag of possessions
Cordy
Minson and Roughhead with 12 marks between them = big guys taking big marks = :thumbsu:
Dickson, Grant , Crody and Skinner all sounding lively in the forward line.
Pushing the reigning premiers hard on their home turf.

I don't mind that. We matched them most of the way but obviously missed Griffen and Dahlhaus in the 2nd half. The loss keeps us under the radar which isn't a bad thing. And any side that loses by a goal to a full strength reigning premier side at Kardinia Park isn't doing too badly.

From the SEN call it sounds like Cordy and Skinner staked their claim when they came on. (SEN call pretty poor, esp Mooney).

AFL website was sh'ouse, with no stats displayed for the subs who came on. Come on, Andrew, it's not hard to get little things like that right.

Skinner needs to play Rd 1. He was subbed on last quarter and gave us what we lacked in the 3rd qtr with no Dahlhaus. Cordy was good. Was never beaten to the ball and always gave a contest. But in the 3rd quarter we had no presence as soon as the ball hit the deck in our forward line. Either we marked it or it came back the other way. Thought Coons was much improved. Yep. Picken was a genuine accumulator today. And used it well. Also liked Howard. Gave us a great option on the wing. More when I get home and can process the game more.
