Lol I remember a tigers poster claiming that they got no frees in the first half (which was apparently us paying off the umps).

Watching the replay, 1 min 10 in and theyve had three already. And they call north posters delusional.

I got to the ground with 8 minutes to go in the second half (missed the first half) and sat behind a lovely tigers supporter. We recieved a free kick, he went off his chops about it. Guy sitting next to me says "seems like it has been the umpires fault since 1980". Didn't go down to well. Starts threatening this bloke and his wife, and me. We tell him to calm down. He stops for a bit.

We get another free kick, he goes ballistic, we are pissing ourselves laughing, I relay the fact that he needs to relax and that MS-DOS hadn't been released the last time Richmond had won anything so it wasnt just the umpires that were a problem, and he turns and threatens me again. We end up winning.

Don't get me started on the roar after they beat Hawthorn. Hilarious.

Re Hansen: Teffy yes he needs work offensively but I see limited upside in him in that regard.

Having watched both games at the ground, and again on replay when I got home (love you Fox Footy Channel, even with all your freaky little personality disorders masquerading as a commentary team), I would like to offer up the observation that Hansen was neither terrible nor brilliant. Which I reckon goes for most of him teammates. Hard to find more than a handful who played wholly great or wholly terrible games. I'd argue that's as much of a reflection of the two game whacky rule format as anything else.

And to be honest, the team performance (moving away from individuals for a sec) had some stupendously good bits, and some stupendously horrible bits.

It's February. Goal for next month is increase good bits, decrease horrible bits, as a team and as individuals. Including Lachie.

And on that note, how lovely for all those Richmond supporters to have had some happiness last night. Will give them something to hold on to in the cold winter months as reality sinks in.

I think the Hansen kick straight to a tiger player being discussed was when Magraw (??? honestly dont know who it was, about 4 mins into the 2nd quarter) took an uncontested mark on the wing.

While it wasnt a good kick our boys made it much easier than they should of and basically stood off the contest.

both happened in the second half against tigers. Kick up a line was to a contest but the Richmond player took an uncontested mark. Kicks have to be too our players advantage.

Explain to me how a kick to a contest ends up in an uncontested mark, and how this is Hansens fault?

2nd one was a contested ball between Hansen and Nahas. Hansen got to the ball first but fumbled and coughed it up straight to a Richmond player who was able to get the ball out to a player that had a set shot at goal.

I thought you analysed the game????

When did this happen? The only Nahas pass that ended up in a set shot was when the Richmond defence passed the ball 50 metres to Nahas.

Its pretty simple. two guys leading to the ball, NM in from Tiger at back. Hansen kicks it too high (constant flaw) and the Tiger guy drops back quicker to take and uncontested mark.

did you read my post? I didn't say Nahas passed the ball. I dont know which Richmond player it was. Did you watch the game? no? I'll explaing what happened but suggest you go and watch the game. Nahas was going for the ball on the ground, Hansen was approaching from the opposite side of the ball. Hansen got there first, tried to gather the ball but fumble it and it fell to another Richmond player. Hansen either had to take clean possession or kill the contest. He did neither and a direct goal resulted. The two plays highlighted flaws in Hansens game that aren't getting any better. He needs to get better or we find someone else.

With Grima going down we need him, but we also need him to become a very good player instead of a just being a very good spoiler.

The North bloke didn't contest. This is Hansens fault?

did you read my post?

I attempted. It's incoherent.

Regulation Hansenism.

There's a few more minutes freed up.

2 Hypothetical questions for all.

1 - Removing the first 10 mins of the Hawks game how do you rate the other 80 mins given its NAB1?

2 - If Hansen was Pick 40 in his draft year would everyone be so hyper critical or would we say he played reasonably, just needs more gametime to get his hands right again given its NAB1?

I do think "expectation" alone is blinding a few from what is.

I was pleased to see Hansen back into a few packs. He got hit hard a couple of times. He played OK. As people have said, there were very few players who played well and very few who were shit.

He still seems to lack presence in the contest as soon as the ball hits the ground. He weighs 100kg. Needs to throw it around.

Maybe he needs to be locked in a cage with Jack to go a few rounds to get the aggression and intensity out for all to see. :p
