Thanks for that watige. I think JON and Silvester will miss out. Although with Thursfield not playing Silvester might play if TW wants to play with 3 KPD. Not sure who else will miss out.

Btw does anyone know why Thursty is not playing? Hopefully its just a precaution and nothing serious

Cheers WAtige.

More like 3 to miss out though because 2 of them will be the subs. :thumbsu:

Yeah - I wasn't sure about wether the sub thing was in or not - so thanks PHX.

Reasonably strong team then - probably two of the seniors to be subbed at 1/2 time? Will they leave out three frontliners/seniors or the least experienced?

B - Post - Moore - Raines
HB - Newman - McGuane - Schulz
C - Richardson - Deledio - White
HF - Edwards - Riewoldt - Tambling
FF - Nahas - Hughes - Morton
Fol - Simmonds - Tuck - Foley
I/C - Bowden - Polo - Jackson - Hislop - Collins - Graham
Subs - Brown - Thomson

emergencies - Oakley-Nicholls, King, Silvester

Not sure about that backline I've set up but happy with the rest. It'll do me. :thumbsu:

Rookies/new draftees

No Campbell, Drum, Gilmore, Headland, Mayne, Pavlich or Tarrant. Also missing Hinkley, Thornton, Duffield, Foster and Ballantyne. That's 12 of (arguably) our best 25. You guys should win.

Where is Rance?

You would think we would win with Freo's inexperience and us taking a strong side over there. I'm really hanging out to see how Nahas goes. He had a really good game at our intra-club match. If he has a good Nab cup then he should get elevated.

We taking a pretty senior/strong team over there so I'd be pretty disappointed if we didnt win.
Cant wait to catch this game in the hotel in Malaysia!

nab cup means nothing

Where is Rance?

Geez mate, Campbell played 16 games in the WAFL last year, Drum played 8, Gilmore played 4 straight in the WAFL before he was out injured, Hinkley played 16, Duffield 10, and Foster had 10 of the first 11 in the WAFL also before getting injured. Ballantyne sounds handy but hasn't played a game yet.

If these guys are in your best 25 then you're in some serious trouble.

:thumbsu:100% correct. i was just about to say the same thing. i was actually laughing at all those freo players making best 25.

however, their team is very inexperienced and the pressure is now on us. a bit unusual to not see Rance given ago. hes not injured and its only a NAB cup game. Terry should stop wasting his time with Oakley-Nicholls

Rance has to be nursing a niggle surely, no way would they play Silvester ahead of him.

Perhaps, although it could be they want to see what Silvester is like in bigger games, and this is a 'safe' way of trying him out.

NAB cup is for 4 things.

Giving new kids a run.
Testing out the 'marginal' players.
Letting the regulars shake off some rust.
Trying out new plans/positions.

All are valid, and good coaching would be balancing all 4.

dude, lets just see what he is like in Round 1 of the NAB first.
He might provides us with more than he did last year in Round 1 of the NAB, but I am not knocking the bookies off their stands to put my money on it. But you never know, he might do a Luke McGuane and makes us all eat our words.
Happy to be wrong. ;)

I reckon we might line up like this:

B: Raines Moore McGuane
HB: Newman Schulz Tambling
C: Richo Deledio White
HF: Riewoldt Post Hislop
F: Brown Hughes Edwards
R: Simmonds Tuck Foley
I: Graham Jackson King Polo Collins Thomson
Subs: Bowden Morton

Emergencies: JON Silvester Nahas

I'm tipping we'll go in with a fairly strong line up to start the game, it could almost be the side we run out with round 1 just looking at it and given that itself will be a big game, I get the feeling Wallace would be keen to get the players prepared for it by lining up against the Pies in a couple of weeks time in front of what is sure to be a decent crowd.

To make sure we don't lose anyone important I get the feeling that Brown and Richo will be given the first half to run around and get a bit of touch before being subbed at half time with Bowden and Morton as their replacements. In the second half I'm also tipping we'll see a fair bit of Graham in the ruck to make sure Simmo doesn't pick up any injury either, just give him a chance to clow out the cobwebs and not much else.

I think the only reason that JON, Silvester and Nahas have been taken along is because the rest of the squad is still in some sort of rehab or are carrying slight niggles. Yes I'm aware that many here are a wrap for Nahas but I'm not sure he should be given a start in the first game of the year, even if it is the NAB Cup.
