Naitanui injured

Good to see we have so many medical experts on this board.

Not just medical experts - they also have the ability to read minds and know exactly what the coach feels, how the players feel, what the coach says to the players behind closed doors, what the board are planning etc. I just wish they could give me the lotto numbers as well

There is a massive difference between jogging laps and running without contact.

He managed to run, sprint and lay some huge tackles with his shoulder injury. Why wouldn't he be able to start running in november? His shoulder would probably be feeling better than it does now anyway.
Every team has big numbers of surgery post-season, do you actually follow the game?

Probably makes sense now why the club elevated Sullivan from the rookie list at the beginning of the year, with Naitanui unfit and question marks over Cox.

all that over a cyst?
cmon now.

i just want those 16 players training,
hate how we send them early to get surgery,
then before round 1 half our good players are still not ready
ie cox and kerr EVERY season

Read what I said before you try come at me. You are saying things that have zero relevance to what I posted. Did I say he won't be able to run in November? Did I say it's not normal for players to have surgery after the season? No I didn't so gtfo.

A full pre-season is just as important. Plus with a shoulder injury how is he going to lift weights??

He should have gone in for surgery in round 16.

You would rather Naitanui had 2-3 weeks maximum extra preseason training(of which he will be able to run anyway) over 6 weeks of training and games?

Think your reading into it a little too much.

I did read both your stupid posts, all players play through the year with injuries if they can. The club is not a rabble, it's just your opinion that is.

If you read my posts you wouldn't be asking questions that served no purpose to what I was stating. Wouldn't surprise me if you were related to pacemaker.

Four months? is that for real? seams very very excessive. Cant imagine why we would of played him is it was such a serious injury?
On the plus side his biggest problems are his positioning and his tank. then his kick. neither of which should be too badly effected by a shoulder injury.
Hopefully he can start building his tank in 2 months or so at-least with pool work. lets just hope he hasn't done any long term damage by playing injured.

I don't understand why we'd play him through an injury, just seems reckless to me. Not to mention the ridiculous number of players having shoulder surgery and all the groin injuries - a review into our medical and conditioning department really needs to take place IMO.

Agreed. We had Sullivan on the senior list all year and we played Naitanui through injury which will probably effect his pre-season.

Absolutely crazy.

LOL You guys crack me up.....:D

My wife had a Cyst cut out of her wrist not long ago and the Quack told her and me that she had to keep her Wrist supported for 1 week then she could resume her normal activities.

He will be fine to do full contact in 2 to 3 weeks.

I wont effect his Pre-season at all.:thumbsu:

Lucky she's not a dude.

it said he had a tear. a tear and a cyst. it would be a bit different for a shoulder aswell i would imagine.

Am confused why we played the injured guys, not as if finals chances were there.
Why didn't they just get him into surgery when it was clear our season was over which was about 3 months ago.

Complety ****ed up his pre season
Weights will be very diffucult for a while, aerobic fitness wont be a worry.:thumbsu:
Well he needed the games and surley a cyst isnt that serious.
Depends where the cyst is. But, probably not of high priority, a cartilage tear is very painful, if the reporting by the media is accurate.

This club is a rabble, put him in surgery earlier. Even if he missed four games it's a month earlier he can comeback. Not only will he have a poor fitness base in terms of aerobic capacity but he will be unable to do weights for a long time.
4 games, even for a youngster isn't a lot IMO for him to miss. Early surgury would be better, and I think the benefits would outweigh the negatives.

This.

Shoulders are a diabolically problematic joint. Any problem with a shoulder is serious. A cyst might be the lesser of those problems, but depends on where the cyst is.
IF he has a cartilage tear, it may require suturing. That will require an invasive arthroscopic procedure . The procedure will keep him out of action for a week or two but the sutured cartilage will need lots of rest.

Maybe on the stationary bikes, but they won't bring him into running and sprinting too early - like I said in the thread on the players board - Chris 'mommas boy' Judd started (on his own accord I believe, as he is a bit of an eager beaver and likes to train in the 'time-off') running too soon after his shoulder injury and was running with an altered gait - which he believes lead to his groin issues in 2007.

He should still be able to do some lower body weights and core training, which is more important than upper body weights.

Interesting, you certainly cant run too well in a sling:eek:

Seems a very sensationalist attempt at journalism.. clearly trying to make things sound a lot worse than they are.

But Naitanui's on-field impact waned considerably as his injury worsened, causing him more pain and limiting his movement in the second half of the season.

Even if the worst case scenario eventuated, 4 months only takes him to the end of this year, leaving plenty of time to catch up. Would likely work during xmas break when others have time off. I would doubt there would be a huge focus on weights anyway, as that could slow down his pace and restrict his leap slightly. They aren't worried about him being outbodied because his plan is to jump over his opponent, not get into a wrestle.

I checked some stats and his disposals, marking, scoring, tackling, hitouts, I50's all decreased in the 2nd half of the year. At a glance it looks like he deteriorated.

But take into account Cox being out early, a young bloke tiring late in the season etc... the stats are misleading and i doubt there was little impact on his game due to the injury alone.

I broke his season into 5, 5, 6 & 6 week brackets... in kicks, handballs, marks (the same), tackles and frees for, his last 6 games were better than his previous 6. So his most recent form in the key areas has either hardly changed or actually improved. Hitouts were down 1 a game, again more likely due to Cox improving.

The club is hopeful the No.2 draft pick will still finish in the top five of the Rising Star award on Wednesday.

Really, the club cares where he finishes in the Rising Star award?? Will they somehow treat him differently if he doesn't make top 5?
