Of course he's sent straight to the tribunal, didn't expect anything else and the commentators didn't shut up about it all night.

Nothing to see here, everything is fine!

How can it be 4 if DeGoey was 3? In what way could it possibly be deemed worse than DeGoey's bump?
Because since then the issue of going past the ball to make contact has been heightened and Nankervis has form. Did you know for example he is the number 1 player in the comp for free kicks against?
it was deliberate, intentional, high contact and knocked the bloke out/concussed him.
Forget DeGoey, worry about Nank and his dumb actions as a leader.

Yeah this is one I can’t get behind defending. Late, intentional, high, high impact.. just stupid. You can damage the opposition in so many different ways, this way is literally the most stupid way apart from a deliberate punch to the head. He’ll cop what he deserves unfortunately for the team.

The good that comes from this, hopefully, is Soldo getting a chance to have a strong impact and Nank coming back in a month with fresh legs to run out the season

Then again Mansell got 3 for a lot lot less.
And I reckon Mansell was stiff because that was a totally different situation to DeGoeys and Nanks. He should never have got weeks for that.

Sad , but true as he’s no angel with his record. I think it looks ugly and 4-6 could be the penalty going by his past.

If he gets 4 seriously, take it and run. The next two weeks against WCE and Hawks, Soldo will do the job. But when we come up against the Demons in a must win game, that's when Thursday night is gonna bite us in the arse.
If it's a football action/act like Mansell's, I can understand supporter frustration, but we just can't defend what Nank did. It was dumb.

Yep both incidents are poles apart.

I’m curious to why Loo hasn’t been blamed for it bc of his aggressive treatment of our players it’s now made them react accordingly. 😂

Degoey was 4 games ago, not 4 years.

The AFL is not in the habit of grading these type of incidents deliberate. They are extremely careless incidents in terms of contact to the head, but it will be seen as careless, rather than deliberate.

Under current Tribunal rules, reported players are entitled to use precedents from the current season in their arguments and DeGoey is the most relevant precedent to the Nankervis case, where the reported player clearly elects to bump and it is a step after the concussed player has released the ball. The action is the same. The result is the same. The timing is the same.

The Tribunal is not able to say things have changed in the last 5 weeks due to other cases occurring similar to this in that time. In fact the opposite is the case. They are now bound by the outcomes of those cases. To do otherwise would be perfectly reasonable grounds for appeal.

No error the AFL Tribunal makes shocks me now after the farcical Mansell case, but if they gave Nankervis more than the recent DeGoey bump then it would most certainly be inequitable as the two incidents are the same in all important factors and so the Tribunal is bound by the precedent case.
