I noticed that too and it worried me at first - but Melbourne have been pushing back so much when we have the ball it's been a pretty safe position for Hughes to kick from
Safe is the problem tho, not Hughes skills per se, safe is how we started the season, we won the last three games but taking risks and going quickly.

He's just not a smart footballer
Don't think you need be smart. You know how umpires think. If both are just lying there, the ump let it play on but longer. If at least you try buck and look like you trying but can't they will call ball up faster

We have to win the ground ball. That’s how we beat them last year. Win the ball at the contest, move it forward with pace. Sturt might have a big role to play if Treacy and Amiss can drag May and Lever away from the goals.

Umpires are the least of our problems, Dees defending really well and we don’t have a plan b.
We have a plan B (lower eyes, kick to targets, drive with your legs to get deeper entries) that should be our plan A, once we realise our plan A (kick to May, bomb it high, hospital handpass, overpossess) doesn't work

Why do we have a half forward as a sun not a mid who could add much needed run this half
