11 disposals (8 kicks, 3 handballs), 7 marks, 3 tackles, 3 goals, 79 Fantasy Points: a great day out for the big forward :)

He helped to straighten us up. Contested well, knocked the ball to the ground mostly if he couldn't mark, which is what the team needed.
And a couple of excellent leads inside 50 that the kicker was unable to hit the target. Could’ve ended up with a bag of 5 goals big Kreugs

Got missed on a couple of good leads as well, a nice leading forward that can take a contested mark as well. Really pleased for Freddie, hope his body can hold up for him and us.
He dropped a chest mark after doing all the hard work and pushing his opponent off the ball. Should have kicked 4 goals. He chases like a possessed man. He has the potential to be a real target if his body holds up.

Since Elliott, De Goey and Checkers have been out, our guys have forgotten what a player on the lead looks like.

hes just as likely to have a quieter game next week, but with continuity I think we’ve all known he can play.

One thing I’ve always noticed is how agile he is for a big fella, speed and tackling. So even if he’s not marking it his second efforts are top notch.

if he stays healthy he’s getting another contract. Still only about to turn 25.

Of course he'll be up and down

He's played a handful of games in 2 years

Talls even WITH continuity take time. Let alone talls without it. Don't forget Kreugs was like 22 when we recruited him. It's the same with Dean

I'm not sure how anyone can knock Dean or Kreuger when neither of them has had any semblance of continuity and a chance to actually establish themselves.

Happy for him to get some reward for effort today, hopefully he can put together a good body of work.

I'm just waiting for people to realize he can only take marks on his chest.
A bit of a hyperbolic falsehood with your 2nd sentence there Kap. Check out the 2nd quarter with 9:18 to go on the clock and NK takes an intercepting overhead mark on the wing.

Another strong overhead mark at half forward, 29 seconds to go in the 2nd quarter. Case closed.

I am so rapt for him, been knocked around (physically and mentally) since coming over, always puts a shift in, puts himself in harms way for the good of the team. Bloke is a absolute warhorse.. crashes packs and rarely plays behind looking for a easy one out the back. Credit to him. Checkers will froth playing next to him.

Hopefully then we can move Chooka frampton back to where he belongs next to Darcy in the backline. Think coxy still comes back, Kreug's body would take unnecessary punishment playing in the ruck. Then either Kreug or coxy gets subbed off late ideally for another runner. Food for thought!

Great interview. He didn't over celebrate, we loved it 😉

And I think we may have scared him with the extra loud Kreuuuuuugs when he dropped that chest mark 😆

Did you hear Darcy Moore talking about him after the game? Was also a great insight into Freddy & his kamikaze football style..

Very good first game from Kreugs.

Imagine if he has Checkers and McStay next to him. Then he is really going to get cooking.
I'd imagine Kreuger as a third tall option alongside Mihocheck and McStay instead of Reef or Johnson would cause all sorts of match up dilemmas for opponents.
Put Hill, Elliott, Richards McCreery and Shultz buzzing around their feet and there's plenty to get excited about.

Yeah but Reef and Johnson aren’t in the side now either.

Checkers comes back and replaces Frampton. Frampton goes back and replaces Dean.

Then it gets interesting when Cox is available. Not to mention the pressure when Reef is firing, Richards is fit again, etc.

And then finally we get to think about what happens when McStay is ready.

Not saying any of our blokes are pea-hearted etc - but if you're a fan of any team, if every single week, every single bloke on the field brought the desperation and heart Kroogs brings you'd be a happy fan regardless of any result.

You could almost forgive Freddie if after 400+ days he reserved himself a bit and thought "just get through to the siren" - but that's not his way, launch at everything, commit full chested to every opportunity and gives 100% every moment. There was a contest in the third I believe, he comes at the pack from at least 30-40m off and is no chance of marking the pill, but his role is to compete and bring that ball to ground, so he charges, launches and splits the pack and creates a stoppage i50. A lot of other players would've pulled out, moved corridor for defensive positiong etc, but he put his head down and did his role because he knows that all he's asked to do - and as much as we should praise him for that, Fly and co have to be given some credit for instilling such belief and discipline in a player.

He looks healthy and fit - and more importantly looks like he's learned to protect himself, or land in a way that doesn't open himself up to an injury. I'll hold my breath though until we've seen him run out a few games in a row, sadly there are blokes who are "cursed", for lack of a better word, by the injury stick (we've seen our fair share of those Sean Rusling, Matt Scharenberg etc) but fingers crossed he's not one of them and that Freddie's woes are behind him and we can really see him blossom.

nearly took mark of the day on the far flank.

Has a great left foot kick.

He really does. That mark by Sidebottom was because he knew better than his Melbourne opponent how the ball would be coming in. Kreuger kicked it from the edge of the Toyota logo to the opposite side of the 50m arc. He will regularly kick over the defensive line with his drop punt distance.

I don't think they'll be encouraging that particular kick too often. But there was one that didn't result in a goal that he got over the back tat was so dangerous.

Currently averaging more goals per game than either of McKay, Curnow or King and he’s on an upward trajectory unlike those known quantities.
He's arguably the best player in the league.

Admittedly, you'd lose the argument.

When Moore and Elliott came back from a long lay off I’d have my heart in my mouth when they crashed to earth. I’d say I’ll be the same with Freddy for quite a while.
