Peter who ?
Are you saying Peter Bell connected Carr with Odriscoll ?
Sure am. Jaren Carr during his press conference said exactly that. I also read that the running program was also mapped out by Peter Bell.

The 20-year-old, who is the son of former Fremantle and St Kilda midfielder Matthew Carr, said an off-season running program with Dockers wingman Nathan O'Driscoll – which was set up by club great and ex-footy boss Peter Bell – had allowed him to have an early impact.

Yep heard that on gettable this morning.

WC: rated Berry behind Allan
Port: rated Murphy behind Berry but ahead of Allan
Freo: rated Murphy ahead of Allan

Also said that some clubs ahead of WC and Port were interested in Berry.

Twomey rated Murphy the steal of the first round. He ranked him 6th.

As mentioned we were also keen on Dolan. I wouldn’t call Nicholls a reach. Twomey ranked him in the 31-40 range. Twomey ran a next best 31-40 range around Aug and Nicholls along with most of the other names selected in that 31-40 range also listed.

Seems the general feel on this board from many that they weren’t happy with our draft haul. The two players we got were ranked highest at selections.

Many other clubs (Port included) used their picks in the top 40 and then essentially tapped out aside from a late F/S academy pick (Adelaide, Freo, GC, Hawks and Melbourne all come to mind).

Jaren Carr is the unknown but seems we have had him on our radar for some time. Very likely it was us that told Jaren not to nominate for MSD. Directly after the WAFL season Peter connected him with NOD for specialised running program. He has been doing some work on his speed and jump since end of WAFL season. His next area to work on is putting on some muscle bulk.
Yep
hopefully this puts to bed the melting by the Berry fan bois and their narrative that we “didn’t do enough” to grab Berry.
Murphy Reid is an A grade talent and freo would be absolutely ecstatic to have him slip to p17 .
I know wallsy certain was .

Likewise Nicholls physical attributes combined with his strong contested marking (just about the number 1 attribute required for KPF’s means he also projects as another quality pick

Finally the news we were keen on Dolan shows the club (certainly not sir David anyway) is not ambivalent to our needs ,it’s just sometimes your not going to have the exact picks required to get all your targets

TLDR: who ****en cares anyway?

Kozzie picketts as good as in the chevrons from 26 already!!!

"Fremantle, too, got the player it had in its sights in Reid, the classy midfield playmaker. Allan, Berry and Hotton were also in the Dockers' mix, but with Reid remaining, they used the pick on one of the best performed players of the draft campaign. The Dockers were restricted in their attempts to move picks as well, given AFL rules stipulate a club can't bring in picks they have already traded to a club in a return deal. It meant they couldn't access swaps with Richmond because of the picks moved in the Shai Bolton deal."

This rule sucks in that context

If we really were going to pick Reid then it worked out we couldn't trade with them anyway but if we would've addressed a higher need first then that sucks

"The Freo selection had been seen as a possible buy-in moment for clubs, with Essendon interested in the pick and keen on Reid, Gold Coast keen to use any of its three future firsts to trade in (it would have been Freo's choice if they wanted a pick tied to Collingwood, Port or the Suns) and the Western Bulldogs and Sydney (each club putting forward its first pick plus a future second-rounder) looking to get higher.

The Dogs had been linked to Reid as well, having been keen to use their pick 20 and a future second-rounder in exchange for the Port or Eagles pick."

I'm very excited for Reid, the way he speaks and the potential he has makes him look to be a genius move from the list management team.

Nicholls will be great to have for key forward depth, developing him in the WAFL will pay off long term I'd we end up with he and Voss as depth in the events that either Amiss or Treacy become injured.

Carr is sentimental, the Carr name lives on at Fremantle where it should be, it's a shame we couldn't do the same for the Allan name, but Carr fits perfectly as our first proper father-son selections.

Riddle will be a good work in progress, a lot of people were understandably upset about Knobel being picked up before our pick, but I have a lot of faith in Riddle.

It may be a stupid rule, but our team could have just not traded 10 & 11 in the first place, it was naive of them to think they could just trade back up with 14 & 30, no one was going to do that trade.

We wanted Bolton and I reckon we made the right call there

Tigers were holding out on everyone and it wasn't a pleasant period for their list management team due to unfortunate circumstances.

What do you like better?

Boltan and Reid
or
Hotton, Faull and Trainor.

Reidy and Hotton cancel each other out

It comes down to Bolton OR Faull and Trainor.

Going to be a while until those two become best 22 if it ever happens.

Bolton steps in as a game changer (he's probably more focused on nappy changing just at the minute) as we push towards finals

I’m happy with what we got, just don’t think it’s worth complaining about the afl “no trade backs” of picks already traded.
I also think they thought it would be easy to jump back up.
If Twoomey is to believed we would have taken Reid with pick 11 anyway, so effectively the trade was 10,18 for Bolton and 11 for Reid, which is what we all thought was fair leading into the trade period.

The Richmond death ride is probably going to get quite boring I suspect.

I enjoyed the ups and downs of the death ride thread this year tbh. Much more entertaining than knowing you have the worst teams pick all year.
I will happily accept Richmond finishing 2nd last if it means WC get the spoon again.

I think the no trade backs was a poor thought out rule to stop the west coast and Sydney loophole tbh

That was done to hide a pick from a bid on trade night, this wasn't a similar scenario at all. AFL should have a better rule in place that directly addresses hiding a pick

So we're happy that 10,11,18

Was Bolton, Reid

Not

Bolton, Baker ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Baker would have been better for us in 25 but I feel like we wouldn’t be able to afford Kosi then so maybe in 12 months time having Kosi & Reid is a much better place.

If we lose the GF by a kick next season I think I would have preferred Baker.

So it was:
Our R1
2x R2 (Ports R1)
Schultz (Pies R1)
F3 to upgrade Schultz pick to nab Simpson.

For:
Bolton
Simpson
Reid
1x R3

Good business.
Added the 2024 3rd rounder we coincidentally traded to Richmond to upgrade our second round pick received from Pies for Schultz in order to swoop on Simpson.

Edit: still good business
