How upset would we be if Shai Bolton went to eagles for pick 1?

Collard looking the goods he'd be my favourite for our second round pick should he still be available, means bolton can spend more midfield time. Quick with a goal threat and long term could get some midfield minutes, we have had a lot success out of WA in recent times

40 goals from 20 Colts games, a small forward who averages less than 10 touches a game, and would need to have elite endurance to be worth a second round pick.

We have pick 26, this guy could be around the mark and suits a need, both as a future ruck prospect or more hopefully as a future KPF.

30. Archer Reid (unranked)
Gippsland Power/Vic Country
FWD, 203cm, 93kg
Talent League: 11 games, 13.5 disposals, 1.5 goals

Reid has all the tools to be a star at the next level, with his height, aerobic capacity and safe hands. He's also had a strong backend of the year, but he hasn't quite shown an ability to be a first-choice ruckman or the number-one target in the forward line. The ceiling remains very high for the brother of Essendon's Zach.
know the family personally top class

How upset would we be if Shai Bolton went to eagles for pick 1?
Easily do it.

Shai Bolton is IMO not a guy you can build around, rather hes the elite cream on top. Still does too many lazy things on the field and drifts in and out of the game. Talent wise could be a top 10-15 player but he doesn't have the mindset for it.

Eagles will get better offers though, and it's not in our thinking.

Was chatting to a guy yesterday that does scouting notes for Melbourne for Tasmanian players. Has seen our guys at multiple games featuring Launceston. Said we would be all over Arie Schoenmaker if he’s still available with our first pick. Plays half back booming left foot kick, he’s around 190cm and still growing. Potential scope to become a big bodied mid.

Sounds a bit like Bontempelli, he was drafted as a half back from memory

That was the kid who was in the Longest kick thing.

14. Arie Schoenmaker (15)
Tasmania Devils/Allies
DEF/MID, 194cm, 89kg
Talent League: 6 games, 26.5 disposals, 5.7 marks

Schoenmaker is one of the best kicks in the draft, effortlessly launching it 60 metres when he wheels onto his left foot out of defence. He has third tall size at either end of the ground, but his ability to find the ball in space and kickstart transition is invaluable for the Devils. Schoenmaker knows how good his ball use is - he averages six more kicks than any other player in the CTL.

194cm and growing, so is he a KPP, a flanker in the mold of what Brown will be or can he be that tall wingman?

I like him, he’s composed and an excellent ball user with great size.

This guy couldn’t 100% confirm that’s who we we’re watching because there are a few other kids at Launceston this year in James Leake and Colby Mckercher but he said Leake wasn’t playing one of the games and Mckercher is like a top 10 lock. The knocks he had on Schoenmaker were very minimal. Huge upside.

My only concern is he doesn’t make 26 (plus concessions) but I do love this selection for us. Big body, beautiful kick which penetrates. I need to see his running stats though. But I do like him as a junior.

DeMattia COULD BE the next Fyfe and will go top 15 i think.

Not sure about next Fyfe but he’s the number one want for me. Inside dynamic midfielder who finds a lot of the pill and a left footer. But if development in his too. He’s an Yze type. Would add to our midfield most definitely.

Seeing some of these names would love to be able to trade into that end of first round.

He’s an absolute game winner. He just needs to iron out his goal kicking. A mid/forward that can get you 40 goals a year would be insanity to trade.

Incredible left foot. Would love to see his combine results. Looks like he moves more like Nankervis than Bontempelli. Absolutely gets his ankle broken at 3.20 in the below highlights

Stops dead after disposing of the ball either by hand or foot, no run whatsoever.

If he was 198 or 200cm he would be a ruckman but he isn't so really don't think he has a position at AFL level. Solid pass for mine.

Yeah that’s my initial concern. Need to see his running results because if he has that running in him then with good coaching he can be anything. But like you said, have some questions.

It's speculative right, but I'd 100% do it for Harley Reid. It's not on the cards though, it's a hypothetical.

He will have flaws as any of our picks will once we get into the 30s after bid matching, compo picks, etc, but yeh if this guy is available I'm having a crack. Excellent athletic traits for a 203cm guy and a very strong contested mark including pack marks. Has the attributes for what we need.

I think he would be a walk up start

My son ran the 20m in 2.82 seconds 4 days after recovering from covid, spending a week in doors and the week before partying in Melb. Netballer not footballer, (Australian men's side U23's). Seriously quick. You are allowed to brag after 15 years on here aren't you.
