Buckenara did a top 50, obviously take with the necessary tonne of salt.

32. MARCUS WINDHAGER (Possible Saint NGA)

183cm, 82kg, Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro, midfielder

As a member of St Kilda’s Next Generation Academy, Marcus’s progress this season would have caught the eyes of other clubs’ recruiters, I am sure of that. It will be touch and go if he is available for the Saints — if another club picks him top 20, the Saints will not be able to bid. He has really improved and although he has had an interrupted program following a knee reconstruction, he has showed enough to be at least a top 30 pick.

46. MITCH OWENS

191cm, 85kg, Sandringham Dragons/Victoria, midfielder/rebound defender

Mitch is a big midfielder who has really developed physically over the past few years and this has seen him go from playing small/medium forward roles to progressing into the midfield. While the lack of games over the past few years have probably not been ideal for his exposure, I definitely think that he has good football traits — a strong work ethic and polished skills that are sure to see him on clubs’ recruiting talent flow lists.
seems to be a month or two off with his info hahaha. Owens is the one who might get picked 20. Windhager easily falling to us with that back

They will be desperate to trade up to get one of Andrews or Gibcus.

Not a lot of key position options at 15 if they miss out on them.

Correct. If Gibcus or Andrew are on the board at our pick GWS will come at us hard. Possibly offering pick 13 (15) and a future first with something going back to them.

Yes but you don't part wuth a first round pick to accumulate points for the next year.
They'd be better off doing nothing and just take Ashcroft with the %20 discount.

If we were to approach them it would have to look like taking their #14, future 1st & 4th, for our #9, f2nd & f3rd or something like that. Otherwise there's no appeal for them.

I’d do that.

There seems to be some sort of hope that Ward may slide now that the Hawks have been linked Johnson.

We'd still need a lot of things to go out way for him to make it to our pick though.

Keen to see Twomey's mock draft when it hits

If he’s got Johnson at Hawks, he’s heard something.

Exactly. If the player is available for matching, you can mess round and pick them a bit early, knowing that the team matching will need to cough up a few extra draft points when they match.

With Owens , they know they can get him, but he will simply be one of many players they can get, and ultimately they will simply choose the player they think is the best to draft for their team.

If both get past 20 we will match from 21 onwards

Essendon playing mind games leaking to the media. They do it regularly.

Bombers won’t bid at 11 (13). It’s way too early. Too much talent still on the board.

I could see Dodoro stuffing it up royally by bidding on Owens at 11, thinking he is forcing us to over pay with a matched bid, and then melting when he finds out the rules changed...

:p

He would look surprised, ask if they landed him, realise the camera is on him and give a half hearted fist pump like it was his intention all along.

Yeah but we don't care where they go, we have enough junk picks .

Thats what I meant, the only danger is inside the 20.

In saying that, if they aren't a first round bid for either, why are we getting so excited, weren't DMAC and Dunstan around that mark? ;)
Seriously though, if they were superstars they would go in the top 20, but a haul of say Sinn, Owens and Windhager from a FRDP and some junk is pretty good going.

Where did the rumour come from about Essendon? Or are we just expecting them to bid on them outside the 20 to make us pay full price

I agree. Someone was suggesting that other clubs would try to get Owens with a late first rounder just to mess us up. My comment was that they wouldn't do that , they would take the player that they thought that was best. ( still a possibility they do , but i don't think he'd be my choice at 19 or 20 ).
If they want to do an early 2nd pick to make us match....whatever , we match.
