Update us when he is done
bunch of waffle around whether they'll bid on Daicos/Darcy. We don't arbitrarily bid on people just to bid on them. We'll bid if we believe they're the best player at that pick.

didn't speak on owens at all. just that they may or may not pick based on need or want.

When questioned about picking for needs vs best available, he said that they have a need for KP players and a small forward. If they pick best available at pick 2, then they will likely go for needs at pick 13 (or vice versa). So it sounds like IF they pick Callaghan at 2 they may skip Owens
They will be desperate to trade up to get one of Andrews or Gibcus.

Not a lot of key position options at 15 if they miss out on them.

They've just brought up Mitch Owens. "Is it worth picking Owens early just cause we can get value under the new rules"

Swans recruiter thinks its "fraught with danger to do that just to be cute" they had discussed that aexact scenario earlier

bodes very well for us. Suggests clubs won't reach for him just because they can screw us over.

Yeah I can definitely see them going hard at whichever of the two slide past Gold Coast/Adelaide
He also said that they may be willing to reach for a player to fill their need even if it means picking them earlier than most people expect. So make of that what you will

Exactly. If the player is available for matching, you can mess round and pick them a bit early, knowing that the team matching will need to cough up a few extra draft points when they match.

With Owens , they know they can get him, but he will simply be one of many players they can get, and ultimately they will simply choose the player they think is the best to draft for their team.

Boss at work did his draft. Didn't include Daicos and Darcy but said they will go top 3 or 4. Thinks Owens gets through but one of Syd, Melb or BL will bid on Fahey to force the Giants to match.

Hawks fan, probably knows as much as any of us on here -

I wouldn't mind the saints trading 2022 2nd + 2022 3rd to the lions for pick 18 + 2022 4th. I'd push more for a swap of 3rd round picks next year but more likely to be a future 3rd for a future 4th.

Feel like there's some good value to be had towards the end of the first round. From what I gather next year is likely to be a weaker draft as well.

The concern is lack of picks next year if we lure Ben King, however we can find ways to trade back into the draft if required as well as back a Libba late round special.

Pick 18 could secure us one of Chesser, Taylor, possibly Goater.
I think I read that you can trade your first, or your other picks, not both. Given we may need our first for King I doubt we would be trading away our later picks. Given how complicated the draft rules are I may have that wrong.

Not long to go now boys and girls. Got a feelin' we'll get a slider.

1. JHF
2. Daicos
3. Darcy
4. Andrew
5. Callahan
6. Rachele
7. Hobbs
8. Erasmus
9. Gibcus
10. Amiss
11. Ward

Somehow I’m still not convinced that Freo want Amiss that early. Even though I feel like they’re crying out for a forward and he’s from WA. Would he be more important to them then Ward? Idk, they’re hard to get a read on for some reason, following the loss of Cerra.

I’d enjoy any of those players… except Amiss. We just don’t need him. Otherwise head on down Sinn/NWM etc.

Buckenara did a top 50, obviously take with the necessary tonne of salt.

32. MARCUS WINDHAGER (Possible Saint NGA)

183cm, 82kg, Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro, midfielder

As a member of St Kilda’s Next Generation Academy, Marcus’s progress this season would have caught the eyes of other clubs’ recruiters, I am sure of that. It will be touch and go if he is available for the Saints — if another club picks him top 20, the Saints will not be able to bid. He has really improved and although he has had an interrupted program following a knee reconstruction, he has showed enough to be at least a top 30 pick.

46. MITCH OWENS

191cm, 85kg, Sandringham Dragons/Victoria, midfielder/rebound defender

Mitch is a big midfielder who has really developed physically over the past few years and this has seen him go from playing small/medium forward roles to progressing into the midfield. While the lack of games over the past few years have probably not been ideal for his exposure, I definitely think that he has good football traits — a strong work ethic and polished skills that are sure to see him on clubs’ recruiting talent flow lists.
