Well that’s my point is that here the club is looking at a guy with a bit of something different. You say well why don’t we stick with someone like Hobbes. Also I’d argue we have recruited players with flair but it’s coached out of them or not developed well.

I'm not sure there is much flair at the Saints. Maybe Parker but he was first out.

Doesn't matter
I really wanted Hobbs so a bit flat but if he can hit his promise he's got something we lack. Please don't let Sinn or Hobbs be a star though. That's all I ask.
It doesn't matter if they're huge stars so long as our STAR is like the Christmas Star and takes us to the Promised Land baby!!!

Our pick of NWM makes a lot more sense when combined with Owens and Windhager
NWM - immediate class and skill
Owen - size marking and courage
Windhager - Power and athleticism

I think NWM is meant to be a long term project according to who ever was on SEN today. Said you'd need patience but has something special.

I hope so . His dad couldn’t actually put any weight on by memory.

From an article re: Gavin Wanganeen helping Terry Milera (before being drafted to the Saints)

When he began working with Wanganeen last summer, Milera was skinny, unfocused and had a questionable workrate. So the duo hit the gym.

"The first few months we were just in the gym doing squats because Gavin said the thing that made him such a successful player was the power in his legs," Milera said. Milera's squat - a full body exercise that trains the muscles of the thighs, hips and buttocks - soon had improved from 70kg to 110kg and his weight beefed up from 68kg to 78kg.

Once the football season started, the pair moved to the city's north parklands for sprint training and the benefits began to show on the field.

"I noticed I had more power in my legs to get to more contests and once I got the ball I could run with it more," Milera said.

Wanganeen had never worked one-on-one with a young footballer before, but he knew what had made him successful as a player.

"There's certain areas they need to be really good, whether it be physically and also skill-wise," Wanganeen said.

"If Terry wanted to play AFL, he needed to get a bit stronger in his legs and hips and get a bit more powerful in that area and start doing well in the SANFL so he could start getting the attention of the AFL scouts."

Tell me you never saw Dunstan at U18 level without telling me you never saw Dunstan at U18 level…. 🤔
I watched him at saints for 8 years that was enough.
I’ve also watched a lot of Hobbs, they’re nothing alike except both being good contested players and that’s it.
