The Magic are expected to offer Corey Maggette the full $5.8 million mid-level exception, according to a report in The Orlando Sentinel.

Maggette, who began his career with the Magic, has been telling friends that he would like to return to the franchise.

He is expected to receive a more lucrative offer from another team and possibly go elsewhere as part of a sign-and-trade deal involving the Clippers.

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that Baron Davis has reached a verbal agreement with the Clippers on Tuesday night and will sign a new multi-year contract with the club after the leaguewide moratorium on signings and trades is lifted July 9.

Davis surprised the Warriors by opting out of the final season of his $17.8 million contract on Monday.

Sources told ESPN.com that Davis, 29, will receive a five-year deal worth an estimated $65 million.

"From a basketball standpoint it's always been about winning for Baron," his agent Todd Ramasar told the Los Angeles Times. "This presented a good opportunity to do that to pair him with Chris Kaman and Elton Brand is expected back."

J.J. Redick is supremely confident that he will be playing for the Magic next season, according to The Orlando Sentinel.

The team said on Monday that they have no plans to trade the sharpshooter this offseason, whether it be on draft night or later this summer.

In a recent blog entry, Redick confirmed his status.

"The Magic have some decisions to make this offseason -- free agency, trades, and the draft. But I believe 100 percent I'll be back with the Magic," Redick wrote.

"In fact, I don't even think it's an issue. I just need to get better and earn Stan's trust and get some minutes. We shall see."

Point guard Jose Calderon will remain a Toronto Raptor. The restricted free agent said so himself Tuesday.

"Early this morning, through my agents, I reached a preliminary agreement with the Toronto Raptors," Calderon said in a message posted on his Web site. "I want to thank [Raptors president and general manager] Bryan Colangelo, [assistant GM] Maurizio Gherardini, [coach] Sam Mitchell and all of the Raptors family for the confidence that they have placed in me.

"I am sure that together we are going to achieve big things in the future."
Information from ESPN.com senior writer Marc Stein was used in this report.

The Charlotte Bobcats declined to pick up the team option on Othella Harrington's contract, making the forward an unrestricted free agent, the Associated Press is reporting.

The Bobcats also aren't expected to re-sign unrestricted free agents Derek Anderson and Earl Boykins.

interesting.

well, arenas doesnt pass much but shot a lot.
baron passes and shoots a lot.

would be a homecoming of sorts

now the spurs want maggette

Would be very surprised to see Arenas go back to the Warriors.

Remember reading a while back that if the Wizards resigned Jamison then he would stay, if not he would bolt. They have resigned Jamison.

Plus it will be a lot easier for the Wizards to remain fit add a couple of pieces and contend in the East than for the Warriors to contend in the West. If the money is the same take the one that will lead to more success.

Grr the Rockets are pathetic, with people like Magette on the market they are running around trying to get Horry, Barry and Cassel.

Pathetic

horry - no way. unless there's a good chance of a ring he wont go to houston.

Horry said he wants to sign with either the spurs and the Rockets.

And yes we do have a chance, its just that our 2 superstars always gets injured.
What Houston needs is a guy like Magette who can be a third option, not old over the hill players

I can't see any use of Horry apart from being able to use him as a good luck charm because he wins everywhere he goes and if we manage to sign Cassel somehow.

Clutch City era - Horry + Cassel
Franchise era - Steve Francis
YaoMac 111 era - Yao + Mac

I have NFI why we would want Horry. Maybe Morey thinks it would be cool to have all the players from the Rox history on the same team.
Houston should try and send expirers and our future picks for Carter or Artest.

Something like Bjax + Francis + Hayes + Head + picks neccisary for Carter
or Artest

Yao/Dorsey/Deke
Scola/Landry
Artest/Battier/Greene
Tmac/Battier/Greene
Rafer/Brooks

then Houston should try and sign people like Barry to sure up the PG position, then you have a championship contender.

The only thing Rox fans have to do then is pray no one gets injured for the playoffs because Yao and Tmac will miss 40 games between them next year

Baron shows us...loyalty is dead....he was the leader of GS.

He'll look very weird in a Clips uniform...watch him turn into a Vince Carter type.

Seeking an engine to drive Mike D'Antoni's system, Knick officials met with point guard Chris Duhon on Tuesday.

Duhon will weigh his options with a number of teams showing interest. After his meeting in New York, Duhon headed to Orlando to meet with the Magic.

The Knicks are also considering free-agents Jason Williams and Anthony Carter before the team explores a trade to acquire Portland's Steve Blake or Charlotte's Raymond Felton.

According to a person with knowledge of the team's plans, "nothing" is happening involving a potential trade of David Lee. The Knicks have fielded plenty of calls about Lee but the team is not actively shopping him yet.

The team has received inquiries about Zach Randolph as well but the Knicks are not likely to be actively pursuing trades until after after July 9 when the free-agent negotiating period comes to a close.

Lol, yes, please get Carter, Knicks.

The hilarity would continue. :D

True. Accept in the case of Tim Duncan.

Well the Spurs are a pretty good team and he is paid gazillions of dollars. Why wouldn't you stay?

^^^^^^^^ hahah the knicks somehow manages to get worse every year. They even ____ed their draft pick up :D.

Reading the Knicks draft day forum is hilarious as, as soon as that euro guy got drafted 50 different people said WTF KILL ME at the same time haha :D

Artest believed to be sticking with his final year in Sac Town, suprisingly so.

Just heard on ESPN that Artest is now saying he regrets not opting out and can't see himself in Sac Town after next season.

This guy is just a massive fruitcake. Why the hell did he not opt out in the first place? Does he even know what he's doing anymore? Watch him go bananas next season and force a trade from the Kings early on...if he even makes it into training camp.

This bloke is a lost cause.

hmm this off-season is slow now, but wait to next year, when King Lebron is out of contract ...

Thinking the Nets are in a very strong position to nab him if he opts out of Cleveland ..
