Olsen did mention there would be "Close of lease negotiations", which does sound like we're aiming to take over as the primary/only lease holder on the site, but also means we're potentially giving the SANFL something back in return to do that. Said they'd expect it to all be sorted by the end of the year and moved in by 2025.

The SANFL moving back to West Lakes was brought up which Olsen didn't knock on the head either.

Hi John,

Hope you are well.

My wishlist for this site:
1. A Clubrooms / Bar facility overlooking the main training ground / AFLW venue which I can go to at trainings, gamedays, weekends.
2. Get beer sponsor of the time (currently Mismatch) to put in brewery facilities to allow wide range of beer selections, paddle tastings etc
3. The part that runs alongside South Road to be designed by the Club and integrated into the design of the precinct so that anyone travelling along South Road knows that are passing Crows territory
4. Statue of the Fog
We need to get a new logo before the stupid one we have now is stuck everywhere too.

We had much better mockups of the Aquatic Centre and Brompton sites. These don't seem as developed as those plans yet.

I'll be interested to see how it will feel for members visting the precinct. The others seemed like you got to walk through the main building and out towards the ground. There was a flow through sort of like entering Adelaide Oval from the southern end.

Here, hopefully it's more than walk up to the oval from wherever and maybe grab a coffee from a coffee van parked outside like the image does show.

Obviously the training/offices etc need privacy and away from the public, but give us the feeling we are welcome at the club for member enquiries and Crowmania and all of that stuff, not something thats just added on to the outside of the building.

Just watched Olsens press conference, he pushed the win-win when quizzed about the SANFL, he stumbled for words/not a slick as the other 14 minutes worth of the presser.

Plus talked about playing SANFL games, I took it as SANFL games not including our team - be interested in how others took this statement.

Can't say my SANFL fears have been allayed after watching that. But time will tell, sounds like a lot of details still to iron out.

Was this the equivalent of the old "player re-signing announcement after a bad loss routine".

Why not wait a bit longer when you can announce the details?

Edit: had to laugh at how crap our "journalists" are, they asked Olsen about what is happening with the "Magicians Clubhouse" before asking about the SANFL!!

They've got some good established trees around that area. Also can ride there along the Torrens if I ever wanna go watch training. Dan Murphy's nearby. Ticks all the boxes.
Some good pubs/brewerys and bars around there too.
Brightstar Brewery.
Ambra Spirits.
Ounce Gin Bar.
West Thebby serves some good craft beers too.
Wheaty not far away either.

I felt the same, it didn't fill me with confidence hearing the comment about a win/win with the SANFL in regards to the site either.

I've had reservations right from the start about Olsen due to his association with the SANFL especially as he presided over a number of bad deals that have financially disadvantaged the club when he was working for the SANFL.

The club needs a clean deal with Thebarton that doesn't involve the SANFL. To me that is going to be the ultimate test for me with Olsen, the club has a duty to ensure that the process is transparent and members are aware of what the agreements are between the parties.

I agree with all your suggestions, would be amazing if we can set up a new clubroom/bar facility overlooking the ground. Port have done something like this at Alberton with their Pirate Life bar with a big deck overlooking the oval. Something like this with a Mismatch bar would be great.

Did you expect him to say "We won, SANFL lost"?

No Tram no easy access to the Adelaide Oval .. the walk down West thebby road to the tram will be to far for most especially in winter. Clubrooms? Like an actual footy club? Sounds like a glorified training facility.
Staying at sleepy hollow would be just as good... plastic.
Why do you need access to AO?

Doesn;t that mean he's good at negotiating?

Talk about arrogant and entitled when a brand new facility for both the AFL and AFLW groups is being built which will allow us to host AFLW games at a single, home location as well as potentially play SANFL games there too and give the players and coaches access to state of the art equipment and all a group of members can do is whine that there isn't a bar for them to go to.

Given Port has all that I don’t think that’s what they meant ;)

Members form part of the club so it’s understandable some members would like something that other clubs provide.

And they ignore all the benefits it gives the club, coaches and players and are throwing sooks because of what they want for them.
