Quite impressive.

The only issue is what controls the SANFL has and will they be part of our revenue generation.

Will any liquor licence be in our name ie match day sales.

Facility itself sounds good.

THIS!!!!

This is why I was so gung-ho about Brompton, the SANFL are financial parasites and any venture with their name attached to it for me is a massive red flag.

This is supposed to be 30-40+ year home, the last thing this club needs is another venture where we're handing over the lion's share of the profits to the forever mooching SANFL. This needs to be a completely clean agreement where we're in control commercially otherwise it's a massive failure.

I can't bring myself to be excited about this at all until I know the finer details and inner workings of the agreement.

Site looks great

The key however:

Is the SANFL moving to West Lakes just a rumour? Half (at least) of their admin is based at Adelaide Oval
Where is that quote from? The current AFC article doesn't have that wording - it now has:

Crows Chairman John Olsen said the Club would continue extensive negotiations with relevant stakeholders and seek State Government funding support to enable the project to proceed.
...
The Club is continuing to negotiate with the City of West Torrens, which controls Thebarton Oval, as well as the current tenant SANFL, with a view to finalising lease terms and conditions.

This point is significant:
  • The State Government’s latest plans for the South Road tunnels mean a large section of Kings Reserve would be available from the outset, rather than the Club having to wait 7-10 years as initially advised. Therefore, two ovals can be established. One will be the size of Adelaide Oval, with the other replicating the MCG;

Facilities sound really good, two ovals, good space for our womens teams, really hope we develop one of the ovals enough so it can host the womens and reserves games.

But as already pointed out, it will be a massive fail if the SANFL remain in any form on site, it is either our home or not. Having to share and negotiate with those w***ers is something we have surely moved on from.

I was worried with Olsen coming on board he would want a "win" for the SANFL - be eagerly waiting for the details.

Can imagine the weasel words, "the SANFL will remain onsite, it is a win-win agreement as the precinct will become the home for football in the state."

If Olsen can completely get rid of the SANFL from Thebby I'll happily I admit I was wrong about him and he wasn't looking after his good ole boy SANFL mates after all.

That does seem odd, if anything it strengthens the SANFLs hand, "hey you made an announcement, ou have to follow through, now this is what we want"
The opposite in my mind . If sanfl don’t play nicely then they will be very clear publicly that they are the road block to progress. The sanfl can’t risk any further ostracisation from the public . Also they only exist in there current format with a strong AFC and they know it .

The thing is had we go the Brompton path, we'd likely have a massive mortgage we'd have to pay off so whether it's a bank or the SANFL siphoning some funds off, we have to deal with it.

Anyone got a map of exactly where this site is? I'm looking at Google maps and there is no undeveloped land whatsoever... bar the parkland which I understand is untouchable?

All looks impressive, will hold out hope for good news in regards to the SANFL leaving the precinct to us and that the plans still encourage member access rather than being a concrete bunker with a cafe attached like we've had at West Lakes.
Where did this image come from?

I don't mind the SANFL being there.

As long as they don't share revenues, and pay us to use facilities we build

Any joint venture between us and the SNAFFLE would be concerning.

Right now they only use it for umpire training? Aren't there offices at Adelaide Oval?

In a weird way I am ok if the SANFL have some sort of footprint there still. We are born from the SANFL, and kind of buys into the 'Team for all South Australians' stuff, and ostracises Port. Plus, in my wildest dreams, keeps the discussion of the 0.00000001% we can discuss wearing the State Guernsey once in a showdown haha

100% agree with this.

I'm hopeful that because we've released images by the same architects used for the Aquatic Centre plans it's a 100% of precint plan done by us and that we will have control of it.

Hopefully we can leverage our remaining lease at West Lakes into a clean lease here, and if the council are that desperate to have us there, make it a peppercorn one like I'm sure Port would have with their council.

I think people just want a home and just want to feel like they are supporting the club (even if its not really much after expenses), if they buy a drink on match day at an AFLW game, make it affordable (prices at the Bite/Giants games when the club had them were very cheap) and tell us the money is going back to the club, don't have a bunch of SANFL operated kiosks open up with $15+ beers and $10 hot chips with the takings going to the SANFL.

Let members park at AFLW games for free or a token price, not have SANFL operate it and charge $25 a car or whatever they would charge.

Name gates and stands after Crows people, not SANFL people because we only have access to a building on their precinct.

Little things like that will make it feel like a home for members (more than a club museum tucked away somewhere or a skate park or whatever else will have to be included to get this funded)

Hopefully there are more details released shortly.

Hi John,

Hope you are well.

My wishlist for this site:
1. A Clubrooms / Bar facility overlooking the main training ground / AFLW venue which I can go to at trainings, gamedays, weekends.
2. Get beer sponsor of the time (currently Mismatch) to put in brewery facilities to allow wide range of beer selections, paddle tastings etc
3. The part that runs alongside South Road to be designed by the Club and integrated into the design of the precinct so that anyone travelling along South Road knows that are passing Crows territory
4. Statue of the Fog

Underground tunnel to Dan's?

It's from the chairman's email today

Trying to figure things out based on angle of the render and where it would all line up with what's there now.

I'm guessing most of, if not all of the building to the left of the image is the new community centre? it's looks pretty huge compared to what is there now so maybe not the largeer section towards the main oval? Who knows.

The road that wraps around the second oval would Myer Street to Ashwin Parade, I assume our main training facility would be the big building top right of the image.

Assuming the development wouldn't extend beyond the road between the training facility and the senior college, but I guess potential for that aquatic centre to be included as part of the facility at some point.

Strange that they've needed to keep the stand if it's no longer aligned with the oval? wouldn't expect it would be great viewing from there, is it heritage listed or something? I'm sure it will be refurbished and look good and incorporated well.

It looks like they're going for something like this, shifting the existing oval location (which will become the MCG oval) to free up space and the second oval below it (Adelaide Oval size)
