It looks like they're going for something like this, shifting the existing oval location (which will become the MCG oval) to free up space and the second oval below it (Adelaide Oval size)

Olsen said the existing oval becomes the AO equivalent - the Kings Reserve one the MCG clone.

If the picture on Adelaide Now is correct, then I think that you’ll find it’s the other way around. Adelaide Oval will be N-S at top of this map with top of the oval covering the existing tennis courts. This will also put the new oval a bit closer to South Rd.

The Crows training facility will be to the right of the new oval backing onto Thebarton Senior College. It will be built over the S-W part of the exiting oval and the non-heritage stand.

The MCG will be in the big park at the bottom oriented E-W. The community centre will be an expansion of the existing facility, possibly moving westward. It looks like being another Dog Poo Park like Unley Oval with open public access.

Presumably the soccer pitch would be very close to South Rd, either behind the new community centre or east of the new Adelaide Oval?

No Tram no easy access to the Adelaide Oval .. the walk down West thebby road to the tram will be to far for most especially in winter. Clubrooms? Like an actual footy club? Sounds like a glorified training facility.
Staying at sleepy hollow would be just as good... plastic.
Almost like we're running a professional, national sporting organization and not a local football club.

Hi John,

Hope you are well.

My wishlist for this site:
1. A Clubrooms / Bar facility overlooking the main training ground / AFLW venue which I can go to at trainings, gamedays, weekends.
2. Get beer sponsor of the time (currently Mismatch) to put in brewery facilities to allow wide range of beer selections, paddle tastings etc
3. The part that runs alongside South Road to be designed by the Club and integrated into the design of the precinct so that anyone travelling along South Road knows that are passing Crows territory
4. Statue of the Fog
Number 3 is great.

Like port do it, only ours would be visual not odorous

What would be even better is if Adelaide Oval replicated the size of the MCG
Not sure about this - there's a touch of the Geelongs about ours and ports advantage in the H&A. Problem is we never get to play at the G

Definitely a tight fit in that case, and the existing oval would still need relocation based on their picture

Here's a rough overlay showing the orientation of plans on map...

I recall in the West Torrens days, the Cricket club sinking into the ground and being demolished. I hope they don't build anything on the area of the Northern Oval.

Always seemed inevitable. A few things from a Club perspective which I have mentioned previously.

The main Oval needs to be kept in perfect condition, similar to AO. I think that limits how much the SANFL /umpires can access the oval.

I don't want to see us get into any kind of time sharing arrangement for use of the oval with the SANFL. That won't work for anyone.

I presume we will soon have a SANFLW team so this should be the base for our AFLW, SANFL and SANFLW team so I am happy there are two ovals.

I am happy if we let others use the facility, contract out servies but that should all be under our control. Anything less than that is a massive fail.

So based on the pre-existing poll results, people aren’t happy with this or…?

It depends, ultimately the devil will be in the details.

Flashy pictures are nice and all, but I am more interested in the financial implications of the deal that is currently being done behind the scenes with the SANFL and also how much autonomy we'll have at the site.
