Hi all,

I am a 16 year old football watcher, who absolutely loves the cats. I live in Geelong, and was lucky enough to go to the ‘09 and ‘11 premierships, and now go to almost all home games in Melb and Geelong, plus a few extra. I’ve been following the cats for all of my relatively short life, following both sets of parents and grandparents (including my grandpa who has been a Pivotonian for 40+ years).

Been on here for a couple of months and thought I should introduce myself.

Hi all, I'm sort of new here, mad Geelong supporter since I came back to Australia in 2006. I did live here between 1992-1995 but I was born in 1991 so no memories of Geelong during that time however my Dad has supported them since first moving to Australia in 1988 so he did experience the heartbreak of the 4 grand final losses with the last one a couple of months before we left the country, spent 1995-2005 in the UK. Was a member of Geelong in 2008 however had to give that up for working in 2009-2012, went to most games in 2013, became a member in 2014, still a member now but have decided to join the social club from next season. I went to the 2008 Grand Final (front row, yuck) and the 2011 Grand Final (standing but much happier times), Go Cats!

PS: Still trying to figure out who my favourite non-Geelong player is as Patrick Dangerfield was mine for a few years before he came home!

Greetings,
I'm a US expat in East Asia. I've lurked around since 2009 when I re-discovered Aussie-rules. I remember back in the 70s when ESPN started up and didn't have enough cash for mainstream US sports. Really enjoyed AR back in those days. I re-acquired during the 09 season, though I didn't really understand too deeply what was going on. I was attracted to this team that had some hippy-looking players, a couple of cue balls (one of which looked like a teenage alien from a movie), and a frightening, red-haired guy with a jack-o-lantern game face, who became my favorite player. I was drawn in quite subconsciously by the game style. I don't usually go for dominant teams, so fortunately I didn't know the recent history of the team. Of course, the more I learned about the club, the more I liked it.
Anyway, with the Sydney game beckoning I felt a bit superstitious because the Cats have lost big games I had made a point of sneaking in some minutes to watch at work. (I hate weekday games) So promised myself to not watch, and if we won I'd register for BF. Here I am. You're welcome :))
Now I have to find a way to see the game. I usually stream from websites. I used to watch the youtube channels, but the AFL really cracked down this year. If anyone could point the way for an alternative. I'd really like to watch last night's match. :)
I'll be trying to add some different viewpoints to some discussions here. I'm old school, no social media, don't emote through a keyboard, try to bring humor, sorry humour, to my opinions, and never feed trolls.

Welcome....

Great posts so far . Keep it up.
if overseas www.watchafl.com.au Its the official AFL service for overseas. You pay for it but its not too bad all things considered.
Great service and with good wifi it AWESOME.

thanks daz, but as an old timer, I don't like having to pay to watch sports on tv :) especially for only a few replays a year, Geelong on Fridays, or Thursdays, or Mondays. Personally I thought they (AFL) should have given parking or train vouchers to members having travel into the city for home games on weekdays. Never would happen though.
Actually I once tried to sign up at AFL.com to be able to watch replays and got denied by service not available in your country. So, been pretty F it since.

I get the ethos.

I recon for 10 bucks these last 2 weeks its worth it but clearly that is entirely up to you.

At least you have the info to make an informed choice.

Enjoy.

Hi I live on the Mornington Peninsula and travel to all Geelong home games and have seats in the Brownlow stand. Have been a mad Geelong supporter and I mean mad all my 48 years. My favorite players over the years have been Larry Donahue, Neville Bruns, Gary Hocking, Gary Ablett Snr, David Wojcinski, Jimmy Bartel, Joel Selwood, Gary Ablett Jr and now Mitch Duncan. Want to see Kelly and Fogarty excel over the next few years.

I work in the IT industry and can help if you have any issues and need assistance. Have been a member of this group for about 10 years, but haven't posted as I was a regular on the YUKU site. But know I will start posting on here. It is good to see a fair few of the YUKU people on this site.

Hopefully Geelong can improve by another 2 wins this year, and we see some great football from Gaz Jnr and see improvement from the young new players.

Not a big fan of the coach as I believe he is very reactive and doesn't seem to have a plan B. We definitely need a half back with speed like Wojo to improve our list.

Talk soon

Welcome..

Well its not really welcome as it looks like you've been here 11 years so thats a bit misleading - perhaps welcome back is more appropriate.

Glad to see you here - excellent info on the WC tix.... thanks for that.
