Heard a rumour from a radio footy commentator (FM band) I bumped into at the Griffins Head last friday lunch time that Port are talking to Phil Walsh about coming back to Alberton as an assistant/game day analyst role on a full time basis. The commentator happens to be a Port man by the way. Anyone else heard that one?

No but that would be a good get, it was split with Choco that caused him to leave wasn't it?

Damn Choco has alot to asnwer for :)

That would be VERY good news.

Would be a very welcome return.

Imagine how much better our football department would be if we got back everyone that left on account of Choco.

If true about Walsh that would be great news. I think if we unload Laidley we would have some money to spend on him too. I think he could bring some IP from West Coast too.

I still think we need some fresh thinking added to the group though, in particular for our defence. I think Bassett is the man for this if we can lure him to the club.

But if we could add Walsh and Bassett to Hocking and Primus things would be looking a lot better.

Phil Walsh is top shelf and his return would be heaven sent.

If Bailey came back to, it would be like getting an old band together for a world tour. Bring it on!

Just without the egotistical lead singer. ;)

According to the 3 Idiotic monkeys on League Teams Laidley is gone. They make it sound like he cant wait to get out but I would think that Dean is a 100% type of guy and if he can't give it all then better not to do it.

Either way a senior assistant is on the cards and I think Monty would just about fill that role now.

Lets bring someone home. Home to Queen St not South Australia, Queen St Alberton.

I think Basset, Monty, Lade, Walsh would be all good gets, shame we don't have the $$$$ otherwise I would throw the whole bucket at Roo's too, I know he may not be interested but he's good friends with the "Macs" and he is the knees bees of coaching.

Lets not forget either some positive signatures o nthe coaching front would also install some vigor and faith in the playing group IMP.

From what Matty said at the member's info night it's the other way around. They want Laidley to commit to the role 100% or Port will move on. Primus was very supportive of what Laidley had brought to the role and the support he has given Matt.

This is how I understood it too. With more money in the kitty there is no need to persist with a part-time assistant. Laidley will be left with no option but to commit 100% or find other options. He won't be with us in 2012.

You would think Monty would want to settle as an assistant at one Club for now, was at the Blues last year, Bulldogs this year.

I wouldn't think he would move again so quickly unless Eade got the boot and a new coach brought in his own team.

we are missing this guy

Anyone still keen on Bailey?

Absolutely.

Senior assistant to Williams in 2004 and 2007 (left for Melbourne before the debacle) and now has 3 years of senior experience dragging the worst club in the league up to some sort of standard.

Want.
