Mods,
Can we get a sticky put up for all new coaching rumours as this is going to get ridiculous over the next few months ?

Re: New coach rumours

Good idea. Essendon are currently looking at Mark Thompson. They have phoned his manager

Re: New coach rumours

Apparently we were looking at talking with Paul Roos according to Sport 927 this morning, but Roos said he would honour the last 2 years of his contract in Sydney.

Voss has pulled out of the running for a coaching position in 2008. Source: SEN

Re: New coach rumours

About the only one we are not linked to at the moment is Ronald McDonald.
Same will happen at trade time as well.

Any ideas on a timeframe for apointing our new coach? I'd imagine we'd need to have one signed up some time in September.

Yeah, I heard it announced on tthe news that we would be looking to have someone signed up by the end of September

Re: New coach rumours

According to Peter Jackson, a High profile coach will take precedence if the qualifications are around the same. So obviously someone who can be the face of the club like sheeds has been.
Neale Daniher come on down.

Re: New coach rumours

I don't want Daniher :(. Wasn't someone on this board pretty sure Guy McKenna was the frontrunner? Was mentioned on another thread.

I would really like to think that the board had someone already lined up to be honest. I mean why get rid of Sheeds unless you are sure you can get someone worthy (or as worthy as possible ;)) to replace him.

Re: New coach rumours

All Kudos to Sheeds. LEGEND.

Bombers now have a good bunch of young players that now need a coach who will bring excitement and a fresh approach.
A young players development is paramount on giving the player enough confidence in his own ability. Also his mindset should be right to attack and maintain focus on playing his role, either it being stopping an opponent or winning the hard football.
For me, Guy Mckenna would provide this.

Re: New coach rumours

i know he doesnt but i recon he would be suited, he knows the team well and did an apprenticeship under leigh mathews when the lions were succesful.
i hope its not neale daniher.

Re: New coach rumours

One of Guy McKenna , Damian Hardwicke , Todd Viney , John Blakey or Chris Bond for me. If we are changing direction then change direction with someone young and who has been away from the club for a while.
As a bit of an outsider Paul Hamilton has a pretty good coaching resume but is a bit older having been in the coaching ranks for 11 years in various roles.
